Landry and Johnson now 5 stars.

We just passed FSU and USC.

LSU should have a very strong class this year.

It is a very strong offensive class. With Mettenberger, Hilliard, Landry, Collins, et al., we'll be bringing in some guys who will be staples on our offense for years.

Defensively, the class needs to be rounded out, but I'm beginning to think we might whiff on Jernigan, Rasco, and Drew. We'll see, I guess.

Even the Bama boys running rivals couldn't deny that Jarvis Landry was the best receiver who played in either all star game.

Doesn't LSU always have top 5 classes?

Something doesn't add up here. Isn't Rivals owned by Bama guys? They are usually busy knocking our 5 stars down to 4 stars this time of year and bumping Bama commits up a star or two. I wonder what is different this year?

I wouldn't say always. We consistently bring in Top 5 classes, yes. Occasionally, we'll fall to Top 10 or Top 15.

The point here is that a lot of LSU fans have felt all along that Landry and Johnson were the best players at their positions in the country. Now, they have 5 stars and we are justified in that argument (even though Landry is still ranked the #4 WR).

All-star performances. Landry and Johnson simply could not be stopped. Those performances forced Rivals' hand. I'm just glad they were able to be objective once the truth slapped them upside the face!

We had top 5 classes in 2007 and 2009. Back in the Saban era, we had top classes 02-04.

In 2008 we finished Top 15, and in 2010 we finished Top 10.

I'm less concerned with LSU being number 3 and more concerned with how in the crap USC is still bringing in all this talent....

Rivals past 10 rankings Choctaw.
2010-6
2009-2
2008-11
2007-4
2006-7
2005-22(Coaching transition)
2004-2
2003-1
2002-15
2001-1
7 of the past 10 in the top 7 and this year as well so I'd say your memory was pretty good.
And there were a couple more #1 classes in '04 and '09 according to the other sites.

Not many people would argue against those two being top recruits. I was surprised they weren't from the getgo.
