Obviously, they pull for their own team when they play each other, but I heard from an Auburn fan that any time they're not playing Bama, they pull for Bama to win (as long as the outcome doesn't affect Auburn) and vice versa. This person told me that 90% of the fans on both sides are this way, but there is that 10% which hates the other team regardless. Is this true? If so, it seems that we have mostly the 10% variety as posters on this board...

Just curious.

I don't pull for Bama most of the time...I hoped UF would beat them last year...but since they made it to the NCG I pulled for them simply because that meant more money to the conference...which helps Auburn.

No, that is not true. Some do but certainly not 90%.

Unless we are playing Bama or their win doesn't hurt us, I pull for them. Though I also have a lot of friends that go to Bama so I guess that helps in my decision making.

The only school I root against is Texas... I just don't like them.

If it doesn't involve Auburn (i.e. rankings, tie-breakers, head-to-head, etc) I don't really care. If they win, then it's good for the SEC and helps with our SOS. If they lose, then frick Bama, War Eagle

I hope Auburn loses every game, except in the occasional circumstance that it immediately helps Bama. Even then, I won't shed any tears for an Auburn loss.

Definetly pull for Auburn.. I dont fear Auburn being good. It only makes Bama better.. Same for Auburn, when Bama is good, it makes Auburn try harder. The state of Alabama is lucky to have two great programs. Especially for a small state.

i hear ALL the sickening time on the radio people say "well, i pull for bama when they play awbarn... but i pull for awbarn when they ain't playin bama" bs rhetoric all the time.

i don't know if it's just the call screeners trying to promote peacefulness... but i honestly think more than half of us are 100% against the other team's success. alabamians are too slow moving and peaceful and don't have time for the amount of hate i feel for the opposition.

Any decent AU fan wants alabama to fail miserably in everything they endeavor.

this... somehow i get a small camaraderie when auburn fans agree with me on this. i want to promote the hate. i want to promote the vitriol. it makes you FEEL the game when the IB is played. it really makes an experience that can't be put into words when you win OR lose.

so this person has interviewed all Bama and Auburn fans?

I've said it before.. I tried to root for Bama once. My body rejected it.. I listen to my body.

I disagree completely, it only makes us look better when we beat Alabama if they are a good program as well.

Whoever told you that is dead wrong. Auburn and Alabama have only 75 years of playing.... Think about that. Auburn and Georgia have played over 100 times... Bama and Tennessee have played over 100 times. Why is that you asked? Bama and Auburn didn't play for a very long time after too much violence between the fans and players at that game. Both schools said we hate each other too much and people are getting hurt. The state legislature threatened to withhold funding if they didn't start back playing in the 1940s. Where in that history would you get that we pull for each other in other games?
