I think the NCAA investigators likely think Cam is a lying mf, but they just can't prove it. So they have to react as if he had no knowledge. I think most people would agree that if a rogue relative tried to score some cash without the player knowing, it would be unfair to penalize the player, and even more so a school that had nothing to do with it. What's so hard to swallow in this situation is that the rogue was pops. And unless Cam or pops admitted that Cam knew, or if the NCAA could independently prove it, this is the only stance the NCAA could take, namely that pops was the rogue relative. Sometimes you just can't prove the mf's are lying. All you can hope for is karma to eventually get em.

Why wouldnt the NCAA just say that the investigation is in its infancy and no decision can be made until it is completed?

Cam's involvement would be pretty easy to prove.... John Bond, Ken Rogers, and Bill Bell have no reason to lie about discussions (or lack there of) involving Cam.

Jeff hows much money did you get for your daughter to cheerlead?

JK. I agree with what you say and this opens the door BIG-TIME for impropriety. The NCAA looks foolish at this point for letting Cam/AU off the hook. I bet the FBI unearths more dirt about the AU program than the NCAA. Pathetic

They had to do what they did because au has not received a LoI.

My question is that if this is an ongoing investigation, why did they comment on it at all?

It's not over. It's barely even started. Reggie Bush was eligible for nearly four fricking years after the allegations broke. It's been a whole month with Cam.

If you think this will end well for Auburn, all I can do is laugh.

Bc Auburn is the #1 team in the nation and Cam is the Heisman frontrunner. If this is a cornerback from East Carolina ... You wouldn't hear a thing.

exactly. The NCAA is the one with the biggest black eye after today. I'm really surprised they said anything at all.

what the frick does an LOI have to do with anything?.... did bama get an LOI on Marcel Dareu's extra benefits?.... no... but the NCAA still rulled on his eligibility (never mind the shady arse way the plane ride/payment went down).

I actually think it probably will end well for them. At some point in an investigation, once you think you have figured out what actually happened, you then have to figure out what you can prove. If you can't prove what you think happened, you have to go with what you think you can prove. And the NCAA probably has arrived at the point that they don't think they can prove Cam knew, so they have to treat him as an innocent. And if they have decided he is an innocent, only new information that proves he knew will change things. As distasteful as that is for the SEC Rant, it is probably more distasteful for the investigators.
