Hypothetical: Would winning while cheating be worth it.

I was thinking to myself last night after
reading all of this stuff. Don't think of this
in terms of Camgate but possibly your school.
If u were one of the "big money" guys in
your university, and u had a PFP scheme,
would winning still be as sweet? I have
no idea if any of these allegations are true
but if it were I don't think I would enjoy
athletics the way I do now. It would just seem
tainted like moving the ball to a clear shot
in golf and winning money from your friends.
What say U?

Disagreed...I love lightening my buddies' wallets.

I enjoy Alabama football, and always will, but I have always felt cheated when they were rightly accused of cheating. It taints your excitement.

In some ways I wish we could go to a magical time that never existed: a time when genuine college athletes played for the love of the game and their university and fans; a time when there were no money men to taint the sport; a time when the bowls and BCS organizations were more concerned about fair play than fat paychecks; a time where naked cheerleaders rode unicorns on the sidelines and leprechauns threw pots of gold into the crowd...

Alas, it cannot be.

Not at all. Going 1-11 honestly is better than 12-0 cheating.
At least that one victory was honest!

Darn sure better than losing while cheating.(See Lester Earl/LSU basketball) What a disgrace that was. Seriously, it should never be condoned and yes it takes away completely from the satisfaction of winning anything. A Southern Cal friend of mine says the tainted '04 BCS title means nothing to him now. He's pretty sure that Bush was not the only one on that squad with his hand out fwiw.

If you'd asked me this question in 1994 after 6 straight losing seasons at LSU, I might have had a different answer than I do today.

Maybe you should ask an old SMU fan if the cheating was worth it. I'm sure they'd say it was highly entertaining and fun while it lasted...

I will be honest as I watched the Georgia game against Auburn I could not bring myself to enjoy it as I normally would. I really did not care for the way Newton came on the field and chirped up the crowd before the game even began. I hope this all works out for the Auburn fans and the SEC because if it doesn't then the rest of the public will start to wonder what else has gone on within the conference. I understand the fans and students wanting to back their program, but at this point with so much out there it really makes you start to wonder what the hell is really going on.

I have never really considered guys to be cheerleaders. More like cheerleader lifters.

They can lead the unicorns around, fully clothed of course...The guys...not the unicorns...that would be just silly.
