Without turning this into a Greg bashing thread. Does anyone think we would be better giving AJ a shot. I understand he has not had any meaningful snaps so I am not saying he is better but our lack of a running game in my opinion is because no one respects our ability to pass. Would you give AJ a shot to see what he can do?

Not unless we were up by a lot and the game was already won

Won't see him barring a GMac injury or mop up duty.

No. Not while we still have just one loss. If we go to two losses, I might think we should put him in so that next year he won't be such a newb.

I'm cool with him getting as much mop up duty as possible. If Greg wasn't our best qb then Saban wouldn't start him. But yeah I'd like him to get as much pt as possible.

I believe Alabama would be better off with McCarron as their QB. Opposing teams would be a lot more concerned about Alabama's offense if McCarron was the QB. McCarron should be our QB.

IF we were running the ball close to as good as we did last Would be supremely confident in our ability to win the sec again but we aren't and this is supposed to be a great offense. If we can't get our running game going we will lose to Auburn, LSU and meybe even MsSt. This offense needs a spark

McCarron is inexperienced and would turn it over too much

Until he takes at least 7 sacks or throws 2 interception we won't pull him and shouldn't.

We had a slump last year too. We had a couple close games. We beat Tenn and then we'll have a bye week to get everyone healthy and ready for LSU. At this point, I'm not concerned about our running game. We got the horses we need.

My greatest fear is that Alabama runs the table, gets left out of the national championship game for Michigan State/Oklahoma/Oregon, plays Utah in the Suger Bowl and get our arse kicked by them again. That would be really, really embarrassing. A lot of people will blame Andre Smith's absence but a big reason why Alabama couldn't generate any offense was because Wilson always stared down his primary receiver and was completing incapable of going through his secondary reads. That's why he turned the ball over so many times. Defenders were always able to jump the routes. And the same problems are still happening with McElroy at QB. The only reason why McElroy doesn't turn the ball over as much as Wilson did is because McElwain calls for much safer, easier passes than Applewhite did.

Bama should just skip putting in AJ altogether and go straight to Rivers to avoid all the angst AJs first picks will cause. Bama fans will have to suffer with Rivers until next fall when a new freshman with a great arm comes in.

And you think what we have now is better? The only reason why McElroy doesn't turn the ball over is because 90% of his pass attempts are under ten yards. Our offense is completely handcuffed by the fact that our QB is unable to complete throws that 90% of starting Division 1-A QBs should be able to make.
