I just want to know why you Auburn fans pronounce your stadium's name "Girden Hare". Is it because of a lesser education that you would have received if you went to the University of Alabama?

It was named after Shug Jordan. He pronounced it that way. His name...he can't say it however he wants.

I want to know why your fanbase smells like corndogs? Is it because of a lesser hygiene thing?

down here, pronouncing something inaccurately is embraced. although Mr. Gerdin pronounced his name "gerdin" it would still most accurately be called JORDAN... as it is written.

but you're talking about a place that loves saying shite backwards and being willfully ignorant to it so we can keep our southern charm.

I wasn't aware that an accent made someone ignorant?

Are British people ignorant?

accents don't MAKE someone ignorant... but let's put it this way...

if you act like a duck, you SOUND like a duck, hell... you even smell like a duck? you're a frickin duck. most people that would naturally say "Gerdin" (not people that say it because they've heard it pronounced that way) are probably not your sharpest knife in the drawer.

Sure, the practice of pronouncing names inaccurately in Alabama is nothing new. An example would be the town of Lafayette, AL which is called "La fay it" rather than pronouncing it the way the French General for whom it was named pronounced his name ( La fee ette). I have a friend whose last name is Beauchamp but he pronounces it "bee chum". Is he wrong? Coach Jordan pronounced his name the way his ancestors did and it would be inaccurate and red neck to pronounce the stadium that is named for him any other way.

no... but, like i've said for a while here now...

Jordan himself and auburn fans by proxy are basically using this rule: My name is Travis, i pronounce it Achmed. that's basically the same principle.
