Dude has every reason on the planet to hate the SEC, especially Florida and LSU for whooping his Buckeyes, but I don't see him being partial to the Big 10 or tOSU. He seems pretty level-headed. I'd definitely rather listen to his color commentary than Todd Blackledge or Gary Danielson.
What say you?
Side note:
COLUMBUS, OHIO - Police officer Jerry Dunlaw, 39, described the process of divorcing his wife of nine years Tracy Dunlaw (née Winters) on the grounds of adultery as “almost unbearably sad,” noting that it was only her affair with ESPN College GameDay analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit that “made things bearable during a difficult time....“
"Hey, check this out,” the 14-year veteran of the Columbus Narcotics Bureau added as he leafed through the former couple’s financial paperwork. “It’s a Varsity Club receipt signed by Kirk Herbstreit! How cool is that?”
Dunlaw then sobbed quietly for several minutes, making sure to keep the receipt dry and uncrumpled.

I think Herb is one of the best in the business these days.

Dunlaw's wife does too.

he sucked when he first started on game day, but has come a long way since then

Herbstreit was on of the main LSU backers in 2007...

I'm not sure when he started, but I think GameDay is like 20+ years old yeah?

Herb is the best, along with Musberger and Danielson. Musberger has little football knowledge, but an excellent voice for football that seems to add legitimacy to a game. Danielson is a little annoying but he knows what he is talking about.

Craig James was on it in the early days, he left and Herby took his place

I was always skeptical until the Tennessee-Alabama game last year when he called the first field goal low in trajectory and said something like "watch for that later in this game." Nailed it. Smart man.

I've always thought Herbie played it pretty down-the-middle when talking about tOSU & the B10.

Agree on Danielson, but for my money, Todd Blackledge is one of the top color guys in all of CFB broadcasting. His reaction at the end of the '07 LSU/AU game was priceless, & his insight is consistent with that from a former college QB.
Always been rumored that Herbie liked to chase the skirts, but now we know...

Yeah, I definitely don't have anything against Blackledge.
As far as GameDay goes, it always seems like Corso and Herbstreit get along well, but sometimes I feel like Herbie is holding back out of respect for Corso, especially last season after the stroke.

Danielson gets a lot of unfair bashing for being associated with Lundquist.
Also, every fan base seems to think Danielson is biased against their team, because we tend to only notice the times he is critical of us. He is one of the few guys who will tell it like it is. I like him.

He isn't partial at all. In fact, he's perhaps a bit more critical of his alma mater and their league than an unbiased person would be.
He's obviously aware that most educated college football fans know of his connection to Ohio State, so, if anything, I think he overcompensates by being a little extra critical of them so that he won't seem biased.
Nevertheless, I don't doubt one bit that he wants the Buckeyes to win whenever they take the field.
ETA: I think we saw similar behavior with Tommy Tuberville last year when he worked as an analyst for ESPNU. Having spent a decade with Auburn, he almost certainly is biased against the Tide, even if Auburn mishandled his "resignation." Yet he seemed at times overly complimentary of Nick Saban and Alabama during their 2009 run.

I've always liked Herbie. Danielson knows his stuff, but he can be annoying as hell.

I agree with you 100%. I think Danielson is the best commentator in the game. I don't always like everything he says, but, deep down, I almost always agree with it.

I love Herb, and I don't think he favors the Buckeyes. He knows that people are looking for that. He seems to like the Trojans a little too much though.

Herb is good.
Ron Franklin was the best, however.

Herb was pretty partial to the big 10 early on, but once uf stomped osu he has gotten better.
