this is why i don't respect most opinions on this site

This was just one of many threads claiming that Auburns program died the day of his hire.

to Chicken for keeping it logical

3-5 in the SEC doesn't exactly scream success yet.

Truth. Chizik hasn't proven anything yet.

This right here.

I'm not saying Chizik won't do well. Personally, I expect Auburn to do pretty well in the future. But yeah, the guy's gotten prove something first.

They were claiming much worse than that. He won't be able to recruit, Auburn is dead, yada, yada, yada. Its obvious that he has done a decent job SO FAR, and didn't get outcoached by many, including shawty. He won the Auburn fanbase over. The great Turner Gill suggestion was a matter of people watching and believing too much in what ESPN has to say.

I think it is more that he isn't complete joke like most expected. People thought a 5-19 coach from the Big 12 would do nothing, he has exceeded most everyones expectations so far.

I see what you're saying, but... Do you think it's the program that is helping Chizik along more than Chizik helping the program? Just and honest question. Heck he may end up being a good coach, but I think he has a ways to go to prove to me that he's better than Tubberville.

At the point of his arrival, anything better than 0-12 was far exceeding. Everyone expected him to collapse, but he definitely held on pretty well considering the limitations.

With this new recruits coming in, Auburn might get pretty scary the next few years.

I shall duck after saying this, but I want to see what the guy can do without the luxury of having Gus as an OC.

to Chicken (think that is the first time I have ever said that, though I have no problems with the big clucker).

Everyone in that thread was going beserk. Chicken was spot on.

And yes, Chizik has been incredibly successful so far. Last year, AU was picked 5th or 6th in the West, no bowl, and losing season. Instead, New Years day bowl. Then we sign one of the top classes in the country? He outrecruits Saban (according to Rivals) during a fricking national championship season?

So, for those asking, yes, he has been successful so far. MUCH MUCH more so than ANYONE expected. We should win at least 8 this year and pull in a top 10 class, maybe top five. Who in the hell predicted any of this when he was hired? The fanbase is also 100% united and we may have the best staff in the country right now.

Funny, chickens 2nd or 3rd comment about what matters is who he surrounds himself with was dead on.

Heard that last year numbnuts. He will be back in 2011 too no matter what rumors people try to start.

If he leaves in 2012 or 2013 or later, we will be so fricking loaded on offense, a top co-ordinator will be drooling at the opportunity to coach us and we will get the best available OC in the country at that point.

The assistants made a promise to each other when they all got to au that they wouldnt leave for atleast 3 years, unless their dream job was offered.

I agree that the jury is obviously still out on chizik and that the program has definitely helped him. But while folks are saying he has done great and far exceeded expectaions and good recruiting classes.....etc all I wonder is WTF? I know it takes time to rebuild blah blah... why hell are our expectations so low? Frick that. Time to step up and make these things a constant some other sch ools

True, but he is building a very good foundation and talent base.

No idea what you are talking about here. Last year I predicted we would win 7 games and go bowling. We did and that is about the max that could be expected with a team playing with 10 less scholarship players than everyone else that was basically on self-imposed probation thanks to the previous 3 years of recruiting. This year, if ANYTHING, expectations may be too high. Whether anyone likes it or not you do not rebuild 3 years of totally fricking up in recruiting in a single season.
