It's not stealing. A more accurate term would be improvisation.

Well the Bammer made it appear that we had stolen it from something else, and that Rammer Jammer was just an entirely original idea. When in reality, we both took it.

Thanks for posting this. It's also interesting to note that Ole Miss played Virginia Tech in Blacksburg in 1913. I thought they could have heard the cheer at that time, but then I read where it was supposedly started in 1921.
