I know it is in vogue to pick Arkansas and USCe to have breakout seasons while trashing LSU and UGA but a look at the talent on every SEC roster tells a different story. Depth of talent is always a big factor in having a great season in the SEC and while some teams look good on paper because they have some good starters, they may not be very good 2-deep and suffer as players are rotated in or injured.

Going strictly by recruiting points over the last five years, this is how the SEC stacks up in recruited talent. I looked at 5 years because this should cover every player on every-one's roster.

Florida 13,415
LSU 11,884
Alabama 11,846
Georgia 10,286
Auburn 9,580
Tennessee 8,709
USCe 8,042
Ole Miss 7,293
Arkansas 5,725
Miss St 4,579
Kentucky 3,296
Vandy 1,362

How will that change in the next five years?

Auburn will climb, LSU will fall. Florida and Alabama at the top.

I know it wouldn't shift the rankings around too much, if at all, but I suppose these rankings don't include players that would eventually transfer or leave the team right?

good coaching+great recruiting=winning. You can have the best coach in the nation and not win a lot of games with inferior talent

Based on the star system, there is no way we should be in the conversation for challenging for the West. This included our best recruitng class since they started keeping stars...

With no other major university to recruit against in state, and the overall talent level in Louisiana on a yearly basis, you are really stupid if you believe that

Right now, Florida, Alabama and LSU are far and away the most talented teams. Georgia is somewhat behind them, but still good and Auburn is on the rise, but a little too young.

I disagree about LSU. Recruiting has been just as good under Miles as it was under Saban. Talent is not the issue.

The exception does not prove the rule, look at your overall record against LSU to prove the rule.

L is an L brah. A lot of on the field results would have been different last season if it was strictly by talent.

State had more talent in the late 90s and still lost to LSU.

Talk about overachieving. Second lowest in talent, and still only one of five to make it to bowl games for the last 4 years in a row.

thats what happens when you play an annual weak arse OOC schedule.

Though to give UK credit they can't help that Louisville has fallen off so severely after the departure of Petrino.

Yeah. Charlie Strong is bringing in better recruits though. We'll still beat them this season. We have far more talent than they do right now. They might put up a fight next season though.

Getting rid of Miles would be a massive climb. Any decent coach could win 10 games easily with the talent his team has.
