Source says "football wasn't for him". Not a big deal IMO, a lot of people when he was being recruited said he was too soft and whatnot. He's from SC yet didn't get an offer from either of the 2 instate schools. No big deal, that just opens up another scholly for this year. In my personal opinion, he saw who was ahead of him, saw the way things were in practice, and decided he didn't want to be a part of it.

A UGA fan on an SC board said

quote:

okay...now they're starting to say that back in June he was homesick, he missed his girl, and had "lost some passion" for the game. That's coming from a writer.

As a Carolina man, if he is so homesick he could always be a Gamecock.

And according to rivals he got an offer from both.

This begs the question, since it is easier to get into college as an athlete. I wonder if he used UGA to get into college and then quit the team.

I highly doubt it since he's transferring schools. Also the word is he was homesick, so if he was going to pull that stunt it would stand to reason it'd be for a closer school.

more info after practice.

no one is sure yet but here are some rumors:

back in June he was homesick, he missed his girl, and had "lost some passion" for the game.

He was originally recruited by Martinez and crew and that's when he committed. He waivered in his committment a little after Willie was fired so i wonder if it is something with the new system or the new staff.

True...but doesnt that pose an interesting topic. I wonder if that has happened before. you have to assume that the player would get weeded out eventually becuase the academics woudl be too hard.

I think the idea is way too easy for people to get away with it. For one, they are given a scholly to play football. Once they no longer play, the school isn't obligated to pay anymore. We've had several people quit for one reason or another but keep them on scholarship. I think it would raise some eyebrows though if after 3 months someone said, "I don't wanna play anymore. Will you still pay for me?". Even if he didn't transfer and did stay at UGA, it's highly unlikely his scholarship would continue.

that's how it should be unless some injury caused him not to be able to play. (like Bryce Ros)

That stops the scholoarship but does not kick the person out of school.

That is what i am aiming at...getting around the entrance requirements.

Just interesting.

I get what you're saying and it makes complete sense. However, if they weren't going to get in academically wouldn't it be probable that they won't be able to handle the course load?

Oh I see. Well yeah, I guess someone could do that. I don't really see any way to stop someone from doing so.

Word is that his work ethic was poor. Showed interest in us late in the process but we didn't want him because of this.

Yes, i think the problem would work itself out. That happens every year with the regular student body.
