Using the scoring system they have, especially with them equating baseball success to football / basketball success, Texas being #1 doesn't surprise me. Its like they're ranked in the top 10 of all 3 sports every year.

Yeah. They would have been most foolish to step out of their conference this year.

That sucks. Just because they claim a BCS conference comprised of Texas High School teams and Texas and Oklahoma they get quality points...

Perhaps but their baseball program is legit and that 1 title under Mack did end So.Cal's win streak. (or I guess I should say added to that huge losing streak)

Texas in the Big 12 is much fricking easier than LSU or Florida in the SEC.

it's not even that. LSU and Texas both have two baseball titles. Both went to a final four. Both went to two BCS title games...and LSU won both. So how is Texas the "clear cut winner"?

Because they are in the Big 12 which led to better higher finishes in the polls more often.

LSU is still the winner IMO since the state only has a population around 4 million.

More consistency in non-championship years.

1. Texas
Points: 44 football, 20 basketball, 48 baseball, 112 points
The buzz: Texas has two national titles in baseball (2002 and 2005) and one in football (2005) to go along with a Final Four appearance in basketball (2003). The Longhorns also were runners-up twice in baseball (2004 and 2009) and lost one BCS championship game (2009).
2. Florida
Points: 44 football, 33.5 basketball, 18 baseball, 95.5 points
The buzz: Florida topped these rankings when we only included football and basketball. The Gators have two national football titles (2006 and 2008) and two basketball crowns (2006 and 2007), and they also finished second in the 2007 College World Series.
3. LSU
Points: 35.5 football, 9 basketball, 36.5 baseball, 81 points
The buzz: Ranked seventh in these standings when we only factored in football and basketball, LSU soared to third once we added baseball. LSU's BCS-era honors include two football titles (2003 and 2007), two College World Series crowns (2000 and 2009) and a Final Four appearance (2006).

Florida is number 1 thats why i didnt bold them but for anybody to tell me that TEXAS has been more "prominent" in the BCS era is fricking smoking crack!
ETA: 2 BCS National Championships is better than 1 national championship and a runner up don't know if they know that....

baseball is worthless and points should be left out. and they should weigh 85% football, 15% basketball in those rankings. then we would have a real ranking.
