If the league expands, will the Gumps give up the annual games with Tennessee or Auburn. They are the reason we have the stupid permanant opponent rule. SEC West LSU, UT, A&M, OM, MSU, Ark, Bama or Aub.

So, UT doesnt want to play Bama every year - Or Florida, they dont want to play Georgia every year. Or Mississippi St. and Ole Miss dont want to play every year.. come on man... Part of what makes CFB great is the rivalries.

I think times are changing and universities need to adjust.

Okay, so you drop Tennessee... what if Texas joins the West? Imagine THAT rivalry.

And yes, I agree. As much as Alabama is to the SEC, they will be the biggest thorn.

Why would AU or UA give up one of the greatest rivalry games in any sport? That's appointment TV for any college football fan.

We would go Independent before doing that.

The simple solution to that would be to put Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida in the same division. Mississippi and Mississippi State should be in the same division as well.

Would just be bad business for the league to boot.

This is so stupid.

a. The Iron Bowl is never going to go away unless the Mayans were right about 2012.

b. Tenn would stay in the East with an expansion and could/would still be bama's permanent east rival.

I don't expect Tennessee to just accept that they won't play their biggest rival every year.

Auburn/Bama is but the OP was also asking about Bama/Tenn.
No one except for those two teams cares about that rivalry.
No one outside the SEC knows that's a bigger rivalry than Bama/LSU or LSU/Florida.

I wouldn't expect an LSU fan to undrstand since you've never been part of a rivalry that was worth a shite.

You think no one knows the Iron Bowl is bigger than LSU/Bama?
