I was going to let this thread die, but others kept bringing it back to the top, so I'll respond again--Pank is not right. OM did NOT have a swim team those years of SEC Championships and OM's last trip to Omaha, and the SEC reprimanded OM for giving swim scholarships to baseball players. LINK

The SEC determined that the four players that received the swim scholarships did not participate enough to take OM's 1972 SEC Baseball Championship away. Even though that makes practical sense, I've never heard of the SEC or NCAA doing that any other time. The NCAA made State forfeit two years of wins in the middle 70's for ONE player getting a clothes discount, and I don't think they went through his stats to see if he contributed enough to forfeit the win.
