hey I wanted to hear some insight about the bama defense from someone close to the team. Who are the projected starters at defensive line, linebacker, and defensive backs? I l know yall lost most of the front 7 including cody and mcclain and the corners.

I sometimes eat breakfast with someone who knows the equipment manager, who knows alot about lacrosse, and is consistent in his sucking up to Saban, and who likes the campus, and...

They say a Murray QBed Georgia offense could cause them real problems.

Young? Yes. Inexperienced? Hardly. The secondary is the big question mark but, besides them, almost every player coming back from the DL and LB corps has in-game experience.

All of the guys along the front 7. Obviously Mark Barron was a stud last year at safety and Phelon Jones has SEC experience as well. Woodson (assuming Green doesn't return) and Dre were special team studs last year, not that thats the same as playing DB.

Dareus and Chapman have played a lot over the last two years, and Davis has some experience, but mostly in goal line. Hightower and Johnson have starts at LB, and Upshaw has played a lot of snaps the last two years, and really came on down the stretch last year. Barron is the only DB with any real experience.

if phelon starts for bama he is going to be like a mccray type player for your fanbase

He'll play a good bit I'd expect, especially at the beginning of the season. We lost 3 corners, basically all of them starters (Jackson, Arenas, Johnson), from last year's team. Phelon Jones isn't the most talented of the young group, but he's been in the program longer and will certainly see the field. Towards the end of the year the freshmen coming in should make more of an impact.

LSU fans should quit with the Phelon Jones bashing until he's played a few games for Alabama, to avoid another prediction their wrong about. Saban didn't inherit that great of DB depth, and turned them into on the best in the country. Let's wait and see what Phelon can do before predicting the rest of his career.

He started two games in 2008, according to LSU's website, and the story from the Press-Register yesterday.

This is also what I'd like to see with maybe Dequan Menzie getting in the mix at CB.

Those that do not know who Jonathan Atchison and Ed Stinson are will learn very quickly. These guys are beasts waiting to be let loose. I would also like to see Brandon Moore utilized at DE.

Most of it was a guess, based off the administrative groupings seen on the videos during media viewing periods. Things will certainly change between now and September.

hey...lay off Phelon. Just because PP is dynamite doesn't mean PJ is bad. Not to mention, ol' Chavis is gonna start recruiting small skinny (and likely to get trucked by opposing RBs) CBs and play them 20 yards off on 3rd and Chavis.
