A tale of six quarterbacks
The glittering genius of the Cold, Hard Football Facts is that we admire only numbers and productivity.
We put little stock in a player’s pedigree. And we put even less stock in the “pundits” and their outdated weapon of choice, the opinion, which bounces off the steely armor of our analysis so helplessly, like nothing but little pebbles of pigskin overwhelmed by our M1A1 Abrams tank of truth.
So it is today that we dive into one of the biggest stories of the 2010 NFL draft by looking at the college productivity of six legendary quarterbacks here in the modern pass-happy era.

if your trying to post this as a reason why tebow will succeed in the NFL, then you fail
all this does is point out the obvious, that tebow is one of, if not the greatest college qbs of all time

Cool article, I have doubts about Tebow but I will root for the kid.

good read...i love all the casual naysayer fans that know nothing about quarterbacking but just spew out the same garbage these analysts are saying...as if they know it to be a fact and that they somehow formed this opinion on their own...if it were the other way around and the analysts chose to not even mention his throwing motion but instead soley focused on his intangibles and praised his leadership and work ethic, then the casual naysayer fans would simply echo these same thoughts as well

I think Tebow will be good. Any analyst worth anything should know that after seeing tebow at the pro day that he has potential as a pro qb.

did i try and say that article explains how Tebow will succeed? no. Gator fans realize Tebow needs work, but we also realize he will be successful at anything he puts his mind to. He wants to be a QB in the NFL, he will be a good one with the right team and coaching staff.

What made Tebow a great college QB was his ability to run the ball. He will not be able to do that in the pros. Sorry...i just don't see him being successful in the NFL...not at QB anyway.
There were alot of QBs that wanted to be successful in the NFL and "put their mind to it"....unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

Great article.
Tebow would be an absolute STEAL in the 4th round. He has the potential to turn out to be a very good NFL qb. His passer efficiency and rating are pretty much unmatched in SEC history. And if NFL analysts can screw up as bad as they do with number 1 overall picks like Russel and Couch from the SEC, then Tebow in the 3rd or fourth round is an incredible bargain considering the potential upside and going rate for an NFL qb that is a stud in college.

Can you also mention Florida's awesome O-Line?

Tim Tebow cannot read a defense, has no damn clue how to take a snap under center, no damn clue how to drop back from center, has crap mechanics, footwork, and throwing motion, his passes have no zip and are often wobblers on passes that need to be on a rope, and is a QB that depends extensively on running.
Any single one of these signals a QB that probably won't make it in the NFL. Tebow has a check-mark by every single one of them. He will never be an NFL QB. That doesn't mean he can't have success in the NFL, but it won't be at QB.

Wow, from your description, Tebow must be the most horrible QB to play the game.
Yet.....he never lost to UT. So, what's your opinion of your Vols?

People say all the same things about him, even though he was one of the most prolific and accurate PASSERS in the game.
Something's gotta give.

the mechanics are already 75% fixed and that was just in 6 weeks. Imagine what he can do in 6 months.

This has nothing to do with college football, allegiances are over. He is out of college and is now a professional and my opinion is based on that.
I never said he was a bad college QB, he was a great one. That doesn't translate to the NFL one single bit, the history of college football is littered with legendary QBs that didn't do squat in the pro game.
Its a different animal and his skill-set isn't right for the pro game.
Anyone that buys it to the bullcrap that he has suddenly fixed everything is an idiot. Any Joe blow can be taught to drop back from center when that is all he is having to do at that moment. Whats going to happen when the game goes live and he has to understand the play, check the alignment of his offense, read the defense and understand what they are doing, and focus on his drop and throwing motion at the same time while the D is coming for him?
He is going to fall back on old habits just like everyone does, you don't just suddenly change your throwing motion.
HE CANNOT READ A DEFENSE, he has no understanding of basic NFL route trees because he never executed them at Florida. He is not an NFL QB and I'm sorry if that opinion irks some.
Great college QB, one of the best ever, but won't do squat in the NFL as a QB.

We can mark this down as the first time I have ever agreed with a Vols fan.
