Three SEC members won five BCS national championships during the seasons from 2000 through 2009, with LSU and Florida winning twice apiece. The Tigers were on top in 2003 and 2007, and the Gators won in 2006 and 2008. Alabama took the 2009 title.

Those national champs don't include Auburn's 2004 team, one of two in the decade and 17 in SEC history that completed a season undefeated and untied. Alabama's 2009 team is the most recent to accomplish the feat.

Tied in national titles, Florida and LSU also won three SEC championships apiece during the decade. Georgia won two, and Alabama and Auburn won one each.

Florida, Georgia and LSU did not suffer a losing season in the decade. Vanderbilt posted nine losing records.

Here are the records for each SEC team in all games, conference games, non-conference games, games against other BCS conferences, games against non-BCS competition and bowls from 2000 through 2009:

Overall record

2000-2009

1. Florida 100-30

2. LSU 99-31

3. Georgia 98-31

4. Auburn 88-39

5. Tennessee 83-44

6. Alabama 79-48

7. Arkansas 71-54

8. South Carolina 68-54

9. Ole Miss 63-58

10. Kentucky 50-70

11. Mississippi State 42-76

12. Vanderbilt 34-83

Florida became the third SEC team to reach triple digits in a decade, and LSU and Georgia almost made it. The Tigers would have if they had beaten Penn State in the Capital One Bowl in January.

Of course, teams also play more games today. Florida played 130 games from 2000 through 2009. When Alabama became the first team to win 100 games in a decade in the 1970s, the Crimson Tide played 10 fewer games than these Gators, going 103-16-1. The Florida teams of the 1990s went 102-22-1, playing five fewer games than their successors in Gainesville.

Conference record

2000-2009

1. Florida 61-19

2. Georgia 55-25

2. LSU 55-25

4. Auburn 52-28

5. Tennessee 51-29

6. Alabama 46-34

7. Arkansas 37-43

7. South Carolina 37-43

9. Ole Miss 33-47

10. Kentucky 20-60

11. Mississippi State 20-60

12. Vanderbilt 13-68

Florida's record in SEC regular-season games from 2000 through 2009 was six games better than any other team's mark.

Again, though, these Gators don't measure up to the other two 100-victories-in-a-decade teams. The 1970s Crimson Tide went 61-7 in league play, and the 1990s Gators were 69-9.

No team had a winning conference record every season in the decade, although Florida and Georgia never had a losing mark. Florida was 4-4 once and the Bulldogs broke even twice.

Neither Kentucky, Mississippi State nor Vanderbilt posted a winning record in league play in any season in the decade.

Non-conference record

2000-2009

1. LSU 44-6

2. Georgia 43-6

3. Florida 39-11

4. Auburn 36-11

5. Arkansas 34-11

6. Alabama 33-14

7. Kentucky 30-10

8. South Carolina 31-11

9. Ole Miss 30-11

10. Tennessee 32-15

11. Mississippi State 22-16

12. Vanderbilt 21-17

The SEC championship game was included as a non-conference contest since it does not count in the league standings.

Record against other BCS leagues

2000-2009

1. Georgia 20-5

2. LSU 13-4

3. Kentucky 9-5

4. Florida 12-9

5. Auburn 10-10

5. Alabama 7-7

7. South Carolina 10-11

8. Tennessee 9-11

9. Vanderbilt 6-8

10. Ole Miss 4-7

11. Arkansas 3-8

12. Mississippi State 1-6

The other Bowl Championship Series conferences are the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-10. Notre Dame also is considered a BCS opponent.

Obviously, the SEC teams have different views about their non-conference schedules, although some of the difference in the number of BCS opponents played can be explained by the inequity of bowl appearances and annual rivals who are members of other BCS leagues, such as Georgia Tech for Georgia and Clemson for South Carolina.

Mississippi State's lone victory over another BCS team came in the 2000 Independence Bowl, a 43-41 victory by the Bulldogs made memorable not only by the dramatic overtime finish but also the weather that caused it to be dubbed the Snow Bowl.

Record against non-BCS opponents

2000-2009

1. Auburn 25-0

2. Florida 24-0

3. Georgia 21-0

3. South Carolina 21-0

5. Arkansas 31-1

6. LSU 28-1

7. Tennessee 23-1

8. Ole Miss 26-4

9. Kentucky 21-5

10. Alabama 25-6

11. Mississippi State 21-10

12. Vanderbilt 15-9

Auburn's most recent loss to a non-BCS opponent actually predates the BCS. The Tigers lost to Southern Miss in 1991, and all their defeats since have been administered by members of the power conferences.

Florida is in the same position. The Gators lost to Florida State in 1990 while the Seminoles still were an independent. FSU started play in the ACC in 1992. Florida's most recent loss to a team not currently in a BCS league was a 1988 setback against Memphis.

Arkansas' loss came to Nevada-Las Vegas in the 2000 Las Vegas Bowl, LSU lost to UAB in 2000, and Tennessee lost to Wyoming in 2008.

Alabama's losses were to Utah, Louisiana-Monroe, Northern Illinois, Hawaii, Southern Miss and Central Florida.

Bowl record

2000-2009

1. Mississippi State 2-0

2. Vanderbilt 1-0

3. Georgia 8-2

3. Ole Miss 4-1

5. Kentucky 3-1

6. LSU 7-3

7. Auburn 5-2

8. Alabama 4-3

9. Florida 5-5

9. South Carolina 3-3

11. Arkansas 3-5

11. Tennessee 3-5

Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are on the bottom in bowl appearances, but they made their postseason trips count. The Commodores beat Boston College in the 2008 Music City Bowl. The Bulldogs beat Central Florida in the 2007 Liberty Bowl and Texas A&M in the 2000 Independence Bowl.

Florida, Georgia and LSU were the only SEC teams that went to bowls after every season in the decade.

The conference posted a 48-30 bowl record in the decade, with three teams accounting for half the losses.

You weren't a fan of a team that found every way to pull your heart out of your chest, from 2000-2007.

This is coming from the same group of people who wanted Shula to be retained because he was a "good coach".

I guess they blocked the Ray Goff and Jim Donnan years out.
