What you think about it so far?

Rivals Commit list (1 4*, 12 3*, 1 2*, 1 unrated)

Scout Commit list(1 4*, 9 3*, 5 2*)

Is this enough to compete in the SEC with Petrino as a coach?

Its not enough for any coach to compete for the SEC, this is not a knock against Ark or Petrino.

Petrino better hope he finishes extra strong because the class right now is looking pretty bad.

I only know of 1 Arky homer (not on here) who thinks the class is "strong" or "good" right now.

Even Petrino's class last year was WAY better.

this is the basketball recruiting class.

Only 2 of them will make it through the year

Well it's not that good but they can be "coached up".

So you're saying these players can be coached up after a year or 2 in the program, meaning they will only have a real contribution to the team for about 2 years, instead of more like a 4-5 star kids that contribute early

Petrino is a closer.

He's got some great defensive players they are working hard right now.

We will sign from 21-23 in this class.

Last year was similar. The coaches are hitting it hard right now. We'll be fine.

Arkansas doesn't get early commits of bigtime players. I'd wager most of those who committ early on for bigger programs are from in-state. We don't produce a lot of talent in Arkansas.

The bulk of the talent in this class will be out of state guys who have it narrowed down to Arkansas and a few others.

Its always like this for us.

Will Arky finish top 25?

If everything worked out for the best, yes. Assuming we don't get all of the guys we're after, we may not.

Texas is big for us. Oklahoma, not so much. We do get a few good players from there. Felix Jones was a Tulsa product.

Arkansas playing A&M is a major coup for the program IMO... every year they can play in Texas should help them maintain a presence there... a presence that is probably essential to being able to recruit and succeed in the SEC

And without wanting to get into a sub-thread about this... I dunno if Petrino's recruiting at Arkansas will end up objectively looking much different from Nutt's recruiting classes while he was there

But I do think Petrino looks like he'll do better with his quarterbacks - even assuming Mallet goes pro this year

In year 2, I'm nothing but satisfied with Bobby P. I have zero complaints. I think our defensive problems are slowly getting better and will only improve as talent improves.

I know his recruiting classes at Louisville were always consistently MUCH higher regarded a few years down the road than they were on signing day.

I think it was coaching not talent evaluation... he did well developing players

You do however hear complaints from Louisville fans that when he left for Atlanta he left the cupboard beyond bare... A standard refrain from a former team maybe but their play seemed to support it

Let's face it...this is a defensive recruiting class...

Their are more "offensive stars" out there as opposed to Defensive stars...We have a legtimate shot at some great DT's or DE's(all 4*'s if you care)...

If you look at the class, we are filling holes...most notably up front. We may sign a couple JUCO players, but not many...Petrino feels with our schedule and our offense we will compete for the West next season...we need some contributors now...

Just relax...It's just December and have only brought in like 6 official visits

The other half of fans would take Petrino back in a minute...

Reggie Herring told Chris Mortensen that whoever was the next coach at Arkansas would have nothing on defense to work with....

Look at the last 2 years...Proof is in the pudding

I was going to say, I haven't heard anything from Loui fans but "we wish he would come back".

He left after a 12-1 season and an Orange Bowl victory--at frickin Louisville, a school that was in C-USA when he arrived.

I know Brohm was still there, but I didn't follow them much then or now.

I can't find the link but there's a site that re-evaluates the recruiting classes ex post facto, and all of his were much higher after the players had played.

He definitely is a player-developer. Thats something we haven't seen here in a long time.

This is going to be a good class when all said and done...Hell Great Class...

Will the Recruiting services agree...Who knows, but we are filling holes...

Hell we got 4 kidz coming in from Hawaii...If we were going to package deal somebody I would take the DT and LB teammate to get Akuna at LB before I take Mosley to get Dyer...

I still say Dyer is not a done deal...we'll see
