I've always been wondering about this one...Arkansas fans always look forward to the LSU game and think of it as such a rivalry game but what do lsu fans think of it? Do they just think another sec game because we are usually a more insignificant team? Or do they hate us just like we hate them?

I don't know that Arkansas fans really consider it a rivalry game. There is not much hatred for LSU.

Not to put down Arkansas or anything, but I never considered it a rivalry. I think its because it is the day after Thanksgiving and everyone is still full.

I don't really think it's a rivalry. A good series, though. Past 4 games have been decided by a total of 10 points.

That's certainly not taken as an insult. I think the Arkansas fan who sees it as a rivalry is the exception, not the rule. The boot thing is contrived. We simply don't have the history to call it a rivalry. I think passions and tempers are artificially stoked in this day and age with the internet and radio shows. But I don't think the whole of the fan bases sees this as a rivalry. I believe it will take several years of us stealing SEC West titles from one another, as well as each team taking the occasional prized recruit from each other, if this thing is to turn into a rivalry.

Ark vs Old Miss stands a better chance of brewing into a rivalry. We have a history with them when we used to play as nonconference foes. There is the 1960 game that is still in dispute (both teams claim victory) because of a field goal that was ruled good, but 50,000 people in the stadium saw it sail wide left. And obviously it's our overwhelming desire to see their coach fail. And it's a desire of many of them to shove his few feeble successes in our faces.

I also have a bit of a different perspective on LSU because I married a woman who has 2 degrees from LSU, and we have lots of friends in BR and NOLA. Hard to hate them too terribly much. Les Miles is a different story, but LSU as a school is not a rival to me.

You're thinking of something else. The OM/Ark game I'm referring to is one I have heard my aunt talk about several times. It was in WMS and OM was kicking the game winning fg. The kick left the kicker's foot and before it had gone 10 yards, the referee under the goal signaled "good." However, the kick actually sailed WAY left and nowhere near going through. Still, the referee stuck to his lie and OM got the 3 points needed to win. Arkansas does not acknowledge that as an OM win.

Really? I thought LSU traditionally hated Old Miss and Tulane. One of my best friends grew up in Metairie and went to LSU. His hate is for the Rebels and Wave above most. And as a Saints fan he hates the Falcons.
