Best College Town- I live thirty minutes from Athens, pass through T-Town quite often on my way to mother-in-law's house, but never been to Fayetteville. How is it in that part of Arkansas. How long a drive from eastern suburbs of Atlanta?

Well, I live in Bentonville now. I graduated from Alabama. Its around an eight hour drive back to Tuscaloosa from NWA. I think Fayetteville and Tuscaloosa compare. Tuscaloosa is just a little bigger, but the NWA area is larger than the Tuscaloosa metro. Honestly, I like Tuscaloosa more, but they're both really great places. I've only been to Athens once, and that was when I was eight or so.

Fayetteville and NWA in general is much different from the rest of the state. Up here, we actually have a goo economy. It is pretty relaxed/hippish college town. Basically laid back. Lots to do outdoors wise

I've never been to Tuscaloosa, but maybe Fayetteville is like Tuscaloosa, in the Ozarks, minus the ghetto?

Nah, I think culturally its probably pretty different, too. Fayetteville is not a deep South mentality. Its more of a laid back midwestern/mid south mentality.

Oklahoma, minus the indians, add BBQ and blues?

Southwest Kansas, only in the hills?

I think Athens is cooler, but different.

Fayetteville and NWA is beautiful. Very green. We went to Athens two weeks ago and it was nice. The stadium could use an overhaul but the downtown area was decent. Tuscaloser is a shithole as the last person said.

I love this shite hole though. Its my little shite hole, with thousands of beautiful sluts, enough bars to keep me entertained, and some goddamn good football.

And don't let anyone tell you to believe differently. Fans don't have to be fair or objective.

I've managed to live in Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, and Fayetteville. Although I now live in Bentonville. I would take Tuscaloosa and Fayetteville over Baton Rouge any day of the week.

Why? Because I love the city of Tuscaloosa. Nothing is going to change my mind about that. I praised Fayetteville, I just like Tuscaloosa more. Maybe its the fact that Tuscaloosa is a lot closer to the culture I grew up in. I don't know.

Fayetteville is great. I like a lot of the stuff the hippies do, like the fact that every time something new is built they plant a bunch of trees.

On the other hand, if I had my way, Fayetteville would be more conservative. You have a lot of people who are from this little corner of the world, who grew up in an idyllic time, who don't really know what they've got.

Last fall, my entire street was nothing but Obama placards, except for me and a neighbor two houses down.

Just messing with you, you do seem to hate Ark a lot. Today I think I heard one of the locals you always talk about.
Some jackass called in a local station talking about how FL hasn't played a physical team like us. He must not have seen our team play Bama nor watched FL play LSU. All I can do is shake my head.

I don't hate Arkansas. I just don't understand some of the talk I hear sometimes. My wife graduated from Arkansas, and is a masters student at Arkansas right now.

Our sports talk radio is pretty horrific.

Gentle Ben, Hank from Prairie Grove et al are enough to give one brain damage if listened to daily. I always wonder what kind of jackass has time or desire to call in to EVERY show every single day.

Every fanbase has them; ours just get drive time radio all to themselves.

I enjoyed living in Baton Rouge. I just like Tuscaloosa more. Fayetteville would be right behind it. The point is, its not possible to not be a homer if you lived, graduated, or are a fan of the school in either city.
