[REPOST FROM THE RANT. THOUGHT I MIGHT GTE MORE RESPONSES HERE. THANKS.]

For better or worse, I am traveling from Chicago to most of the remaining home and away games. I am going to scream as loudly as I can for sixty consecutive minutes and hope that my frenetic roar somehow lifts the team out of its stupor. We have talent. We can play far better than we have. Nothing is lost until the scoreboard tells me it's so.

This is my first trip to Athens. I have a few questions for opposing fans who have been to UGA previously and for any UGA alums who might lurk here:

(1) Where do people go out on Friday night in Athens? Are there any bars patronized by a slightly older crowd (say, 25-30, rather than 18-24)? Are there any restaurants which are particularly renowned? Are LSU fans congregating in a certain bar on Friday night?

(2) What is the tailgating atmosphere like? Are people generally friendly towards opposing fans? Or is there a great deal of hostility towards SEC opponents? Are there any specific gameday traditions that I should witness?

(3) Are LSU fans hosting any large tailgates on campus Saturday?

Thanks.

Their tailgating is highly concentrated in like two areas. One area was in the picture posted above right by the arches. It's not like LSU where there's a ton of people all around campus.

Harry Bissit's is a good place right across from campus for a meal, as is five star day which is less expensive. In the five points area, five and ten is great place to have a nice meal. A awesome place away from the main streets is Weaver D's soul food, which has some fame because the resturant's solgan was borrowed by REM for the title of the album "Automatic for the People."

In the world of bars go to all of them and stop when you find one you like. The streets of downtown will be full of 18-24 year olds because athens is a college town get used to it.

Never been to a game in Athens, only to the 05 LSU/UGA SECCG. I can tell you this ... GET YOUR EARS READY FOR THE BARKING BY UGA FANS. It really can get to be obnoxious ... or maybe it just seemed obnoxious as LSU was getting their arse kicked!

I got barked at by a soccer mom with two little ones in tow at Babies R Us in Atlanta once. I was wearing my LSU hat and apparently the "Gymdawgs" just defeated LSU in gymnastics. I was rendered speechless. Go Gymdawgs!

I can understand how TIGER BAIT would get old but it's the collective barking of the crowd ... Man, it's obnoxious!

AND they do it every time they score ... so I'm hoping that there's not a lot of that going on. I can't remember if they do it EVERY kickoff or just their kickoffs ...

Co-sign on this place -- it's fantastic (unless you don't like cajun food).

I would wear something black to the game. They have a tendency to play like shite if there is a lot of black in the stands.

by that logic, we also have a tendency to play awesome when there's a lot of black in the stands.
