Saban's losing control of this team IMO
-------------------------------------------------
he shouldn't be given those boys this stuff, even the announcers said that he should have been ejected.

That was very uncharacteristic of him and he's usually a quiet and humble kid.

that's what we used to say about perrilloux

seriously though, when you touch a ref it's serious business. Discipline should be handed down by the league it shouldn't be up to saban at this point. It'll be interesting to see if any of the reporters have the spine to ask about it this week

believe me that won't come up in the $aboni press conference; he has those people by the balls...and they'll do anything to be winners again!

I can't disagree with this, unless Saban takes it to the league what punishment he decides and they agree with it.

Uh, you guys are way overreacting. He definitely shouldn't have done what he did, but for one of you to compare this to what the Oregon guy did is outrageous and you're just being biased against Alabama.

The penalty was right, and an ejection was a possibility. But what do you guys expect: suspension for the rest of the year?

Maybe he'll be suspended one game. Could actually be a good thing. We'd get some backups some extra playing time and Rolando wouldn't have to worry about beating up on FIU. Never too early in the year to start saving those legs Seriously though, I have to agree this is getting a little blown out of proportion. I just got done watching the ABC replay and they didn't say a thing about it. When I logged on here was the first I heard about it and I was at the game last night, nobody mentioned it there either.

I'm not comparing it to the Oregon situation at all. But he gave a pretty good shove. It wouldn't surprise me to see a one game suspension, and it wouldn't surprise me if it's handled in house. It could go either way. since he wasn't ejected, tht makes all the difference imo.

Yea you rarely see a suspension when there was no ejection involved.

Is why I think it will be handled in house. Had there been an ejection, then that's a whole different story.

I disagree.

It didn't look that vicious to me.

I didn't say vicious. Just was a pretty good shove I thought.

Yeah, I gotcha. Wasn't really implying that you thought it was vicious.

I didn't think of it as a "pretty good shove", either. But I recognize I'm in the minority on this one.

I'll put it this way -- it wouldn't have bruised an anemic grandmother.

you guys easily turn a deaf ear or a blind eye to anything that has to do with your team doing dumb things ... and you get mighty quite when the tough gets going. the sound of that dome got very quite when VT was still in the game.

*quiet

It was pretty quiet after last year's LSU-Bama game, too.

Coincidence?

I don't know why McClain shoved the Lineman down, I think he was still a little irritated about Marguis Johnson blown coverage the play before, and his pass interference the play before that. I'm guessing he lost his cool with MJ and took it out on the lineman.

But after he shoved the lineman, the lineman hits McClain while getting up and then shoves him, it's easy to miss. But you can see it if you watch close, that's when McClain came after him again and the ref got the push thing.

I wish I knew what that big lineman said or did to him to get the orignal penalty and get him mad...anyone know?

he was pissed from the play before with the busted coverage. the guy hit him pretty late and way away from the play, but it was legal. just lost his cool.

and to say he pushed the ref would be wrong. pulling his arm away from the ref would be correct.

I did miss that. It was shown so quick and they never showed it again. In any case, the ref decided it wasn't bad enuff to eject, but was for an unsportsmanlike, so I figure anything else will be handled in house for the position he put the team in and lack of leadership he showed on that play and after the play.

Nothing will come of it.

Saban and McClain get along too well. Seriously.

Watching it again, I agree with you. The ref was holding his arm and he pulled it away in an aggressive fashion. He deserved both penalties, but I wouldn't say he shoved the ref.
