It's tough to win in the SEC with first year quarterbacks. Which SEC team with a first year quarterback will be most succesful?

Are you saying freshman or first year starter?

Depends on Oline and Defense.

Georgia - Joe Cox
LSU - Jordan Jefferson
toss-up if you count JJ as a first year QB

1. Bama 10-2
2. LSU 10-2 (I think Bama beats LSU)
3. UGA 8-4
4. Arky 7-5
**I wasn't sure how most view Jefferson, but to me, he doesn't have enough experience yet.

No question, Tyrik Rollison.

Bama. McElroy will be a first year starter, but he's been around long enough to know what he's doing.

Should Mallett be considered a first year starter?
He started some games at Michigan as a freshman?

The Big 10 is not the SEC, and he just sat out a year.

If UGA had 2-3 cupcakes to open the season instead of Ok. St., S. Car. & Ark. in our 1st 3 games i would say Joe Cox. But with our schedule he would have to be in late season form in week one. Possible but not likley

Mallett just went through his 3rd spring, wrapping up his 3rd summer, going into his 3rd Fall, and between day one and now threw for 900 yards in 10 games at Michigan and has ran the Arkansas offense/Bobby Petrino playbook for a year and a half.
I don't know that he qualifies a "first year" but I suppose it doesn't matter either way.

Jefferson had two starts against legit teams and played a considerable amount in another. I don't understand why he is considered so inexperienced. That is light years ahead of someone with no experience at all.

You never played football did you?

I did play football. I just don't understand how zero experience is comparable to the experience Jefferson was able to get last season. He has gone up against legit competition. He shouldn't be completely shocked when he plays Washington or Georgia because it ain't his first rodeo.
People act like you have to have a returning starter like Snead or you have an unknown. That is ridiculous. He has experienced the speed of SEC and ACC competition in a real game. That is the biggest thing.

Until a QB has gone through the rigors of a complete SEC schedule, I don't think they have enough experience yet to feel confident that they can get the job done. Obviously a QB doesn't need to have gone through a full schedule, i.e. Matt Flynn, etc. But a full season helps to give a better idea of the QB's potential.
Think of it this way:
Will Greg McElroy have given himself enough game experience after Bama's first two games?
**He will have been around for 3 full years, and started two games - one of which will be against a top defense. I don't think anyone will say he has proven himself ready. Just my take.
