Georgia vs. Auburn
Alabama vs. Tennessee
LSU vs. Florida
Ole Miss vs. Vandy
Miss. St. vs. Kentucky
Arkansas vs. South Carolina

When the realignment came after South Carolina and Arkansas joined, was there some sort of bias given to powerhouse teams vs. powerhouse teams and lesser teams vs. lesser teams?

I remember back in the 70's and 80's we (UGA) always played Ole Miss. After the divisions were created, they went on the rotation schedule.

Traditional rivalries. The rest worked out amongst themselves once these were preserved.

Can't stand playing Vandy.....

We traditionally have someone important injured against them every year. Duece, TE Doug Buckles(Eli's go to guy), etc.....

Shouldn't UGA-Auburn and Bammer-UT be down there with the "non-powerhouse" teams?!?

Fine by me. We've won 3 of 4 vs UF and lost to Vandy the last 2 years.

I wish they would do away with the Permanents completely. I think they should rotate the 3 every year.

Maybe stagger it.

Season 1: Play teams A,B,C
Season 2: Play teams B,C,D
Season 3: Play teams C,D,E
Season 4: Play teams D,E,F
Season 5: Play teams E,F,A
etc. etc.
and rotate home and away with each team of course.

This way you get to play a team 2 out of every 5 years. It's pretty crappy if you have to face Tebow for 3 years while someone like Auburn(purely guessing) gets to play Kentucky for 2 or 3 years instead.

It's lined up perfectly IMO.

The traditional top 3 SEC West teams play the traditional top 3 SEC East teams.

And the bottom SEC West teams play the bottom SEC East teams.

Combined with the fact that some very good historical rivalries exist within those slate of games; I love the way the SEC did it.

I don't want to give up our series with Georgia

ETA: I'm sure all Auburn fans agree with this. And I'm also sure Alabama fans would crucify you for trying to get rid of Tennessee off of their schedule.

What happens when say, Florida(hypothetically) gets hammered with monster sanctions and becomes a 2 or 3 SEC win team every year and maybe USCe becomes the next powerhouse of the East.

LSU's yearly SOS turns to crap with Florida locked on their schedule and whoever has USCe benefits(depending on which team).

If the SEC did it my way, you would play every OO-D school twice every 5 years.

YES. the top 6 powerhouses have a tougher schedule, yet they generally are the ones in the SECCG. IMHO, it's the best way to keep the hopes alive for the other 6 teams to make this game on occasion. it makes it possible for one of these teams to avoid playing any of the top 3 from the other division, although it usually means they only play one of them.

And traditional rivalries would not be played for 3 of those 5. That is one of the thing that makes college ball. The rivalries. Don't need to screw up a good thing. Just because some schools don't have legitimate ones shouldn't cost the ones that do.
