Just curious what you guys thoughts are on this topic? Hes a hell of a recruiter and entertaining personality but coaching skills have been questioned. Do any of you think that if he has success at Tennessee that he will ever land a head coaching job again? Looking for info from Non ole miss fans who are biased.

I just finished reading the book Meat Market about his recruiting the Ole Miss '07 class. I used to really hate the guy (MSU vs Ole Miss) but after reading and learning about the person I kinda like Coach O and wouldnt mind sitting down having a beer and talking football with him.

I would say yes, but it will take a few/several years.

No, and he only got one in the first place because no one would take the Ole Miss job. It's not like you see SEC schools making position coaches HC all the time, or, well, ever...

no b/c a program that would afford to pay him more than he could make as an assistant can not sell his ole miss record to their fanbase and expect healthy ticket sales and an excited fanbase. He could get d2 but those jobs only pay about 150k max for a guy like him and he's worth more than that doing what he's currently doing for a big school.

Wearing orange only furthers his Fred Flintstone qualities

No. He will be coordinator for life at best.

His personality is more of an assistant type. He would also need to work his way up and be a D-coordinator first. Going from D-line coach to head coach was too much.

no he won't but he can also come to LSU as a coach and be apart of our recruiting staff

If he has success at UT, then I would say his next step is defensive coordinator (perhaps at UT in a few years when Monte is done)
He may get a HC gig someday again, who's to say not? But he probably needs a fair amount of success as a coordinator first.

I would say no...I think he tried his hand at it and likes it better running the defense instead of the whole show...some people are cut out to be head coaches and some are just cut out to coordinate and that is where his strength lies..
