He lied about being able to read so he didn't have to sign the ticket, which wasn't even required. I don't see what the big deal is?

I wonder if that response will get me out of speeding tickets.

Favorite part of the article was the comment:
What civil rights did the cop violate?
quote:
You’re disappointed in Powe and Davis?
You really should look into moving to China. If you want to live in a police state where you can be arrested for giving a cop a “shunning face” and refusing to produce your “papers” upon request of a state police agent, then move to China. If you think the law allows the police to demand people identify themselves at request, go back to your 8th grade civics class. If you think this was anything other than the local cops arresting someone for not respecting their authority, read the article again, slowly.
I’m disappointed that any American would read this and think anything other than, “The cop who arrested Davis should be sued for violating his civil rights”. Our Founding Fathers didn’t set up our Constitution to allow this kind of crap.

According to the report, while White wrote the citation for a noise violation, Powe said, “Zachary White, I got you. I’ll remember that.”
If I were the cop, I'd have taken that as some kind of a threat and hauled his arse in, too.

That's true. Because civil rights pretty much didn't exist.

That Po Po was wrong to arrest Enrique. They can't arrest you for not identifying yourself if you haven't done anything wrong. Can't arrest him for making a shunning face or a crazy face either. He was resisting an unlawful arrest, which he had the right to do. JMO

If you ever go to court, I wouldn't use that as a defense. although I bet $100 ED charges get dropped.
