He was at North Carolina for only 3 years. The 2001 - 2003 seasons. The man who succeeded him is still there - Roy Williams.
After the 2000 season, when Bill Guthridge retired, the school tried to hire a well known coach from a power school, but he turned them down. That coach's name? Roy Williams.
My point is that just because Donovan turned down Kentucky two years ago does not mean he will automatically turn them down again.
Heck, Roy Williams even cursed in the general direction of North Carolina on national TV in 2003! This was after Kansas had lost in the National Championship game, and Bonnie Bernstein asked him if he would consider the UNC job.

Roy not only coached there but he also went there. And he was an assistant there a heck of a lot longer that Billy was at UK.
