Was talking to a bama alum yesterday about the new recruiting classes and next year. I mentioned their QB situation for next year and referenced it to ours from this past yr with Lee and Jefferson. He corrected me and saying they have someone (not Jackson) that has experience. He said the kid was from Plano East in Dallas. Does anyone know this kids name and how good he is? Thanks for the info

Greg McElroy is from Texas. He was rated right in front of Sam Bradford when he came out of high school. Hope he works out as well as Sam has.

McElroy.

Doesn't have a whole lot of experience but I wouldn't say that it's similar to Jarrett Lee. Lee was a RS freshman and new to that whole system.

McElroy will be a RS junior that has been in the system a while. Nobody expects him to do awesome his first season to start (if he beats out Star Jackson), but solid play is expected.

Went to the same high school as Chase Daniels and broke all his records. Only started his senior year because he was a year behind Chase. He's very intelligent. A little bigger than JPW. Reads and goes through his progressions much faster. The only reason JPW was starting last year was because of senior leadership and experience. I think GMac will be better than JPW by the middle of the season.

McElroy played at Southlake Carroll. He took over QB after Chase Daniel went to Missouri.

He will hand off to Ingram, Richardson, Upchurch, Matchett, Preyear, Griffin, and Grant.

Slants to Julio!

i think both see the field. look at LSU in 04 for what you will see from bama this year imo. The d will keep them in games o will be about ball control and just not fricking up the game. Mcelroy will prob get most of your snaps bc of his exp over star

Greg McElroy hasn't played enough to be called experience.

Has played only on mop up duty.

He TF'd out because he knew that he'd never see the field...

*edit* To Rice if you wanted to know where...

McElroy has looked really good in the time he's had. Hopefully he turns out alot better than JPW. And maybe we can get back to a semi-balanced offense

Sounds like an exciting Saban offense.

Yes he will. He's not transferring. He'd be a great slot receiver too. Get him the ball in space and he'll shake anybody. He just can't run between the tackles.

One thing I have noticed about McElroy is that he has excellent mechanics. He looks very fluid throwing the ball. JPW always looked like he was uncomfortable when he threw, at least to me anyway.

JPW never checked off all the way. He sucked at that. He'd lock on his #1 guy and stay with him, until he either threw the ball or got sacked.

Can't afford that next year, especially against Ole Miss. If Greg Hardy is healthy he'll destroy our QB if he does that JPW shite.

I've been wanting 2 c McElroy start since he was recruited. The problem will be, how well will the rebuilt o-line step up?
