Whatever happened to the RB Grant who was the top rb in Miss coming out? I thought he had a pretty good freshman year.

Still on the team.

There were some rumors floating about him transferring. If Upchurch gets healthy there's a good chance Grant will never see the field again.

I believe Richardson is going to be special and Mark Ingram is very good.

I don't think Grant can be an every down back. JMHO

Grant has struggled with his blocking assignments which affected his playing time this past season. Some speculation that he may look to transfer to a lower division University,,, but that talk started before Coffee's announcement of going pro. Now I'm hearing/reading that Grant could move to the slot as a WR. Grant has great speed/vision/hands. If he wants to play RB he really needs to work on his blocking

Grant could be very effective in the slot. He's the fastest player on the offense at the moment. In addition to the blocking problems, he's just not the type of RB that can run north/south and hit the hole hard like Saban likes.

who the hell can block for when he is running the ball??? when bama isnt running the ball then they could bring in someone else to block for the qb. i have a hard time believing his lack of blocking ability had anything to do with his lack of playing time. i think he just wasnt as good as advertised and got beat out during practice

I guess CNS wants his RB's to have/be the complete package. Sure he can come in and just run the ball and not come in on passing plays and help with the blocking. We might as well tell the defense what play we're about to run while we're at it.

Or they could just hold up a sign on the sidelines saying "We Are Passing!"...

good point. but i still dont think his blocking is what kept him from playing. it doesnt take any ability at all to just fall into someone running at the qb, which is pretty much how rb's block now

Blitz pickup isn't an important skill for running backs? That's one of the top things that keeps many talented backs off the field.

Wasn't just blocking. First contact and he goes down. Not big and strong enough to run between the tackles. I agree he'd be good in the slot.

Thank you for the replies. I thought he was definitely a good back, but did not understand how he got beat out by a guy that could not beat him out the year before. In coffee that is...

What I am hearing on campus and a few players about Terry Grant is that he got full of himself after his Freshman year. He would go to practice and not try 100% and get pissed with CNS would tell him sit down cause he was not trying. That is why Ingram got the chance to shine this year.

Also, I am hearing him going to another school if we get Trent and Upchurch gets well.
