that hasn't changed". Direct quote from a radio interview in south Florida yesterday. Sorry, no link, but I'm listening to it on radio here in Jax this morning. The question was about him choosing UF over what "was once" his dream job. He explained that the UF talks were already near finalization, they had pretty much decided, etc., to paraphrase. This should make for an interesting couple of days ahead once this quote gets out and picks up steam.

Also, regarding him going to South Bend, I think it's not a matter of if, but when. Notre Dame knew the time wasn't right to pursue him and that's why they gave fat Charlie another year. I think he gets shite-canned next year and they go after Urban HARD.

I agree, especially if he wins it again this year. The only appropriate response to him would be "Thank you for everything you've done".

My bet is that he wins the NC this year, and is somewhere in the ballpark next year. ND hires him at the end of next season if he isn't playing in the NCG.

I am not at all sure why he would even say that in public, much less on radio, even if that is the way he feels. The only person that really needs to know that is his agent who can pass the info along to ND anytime he wants.

Yeah, that's why I think it's going to get very interesting. Big mistake on his part to say that when he has a NC game to get ready for. He is typically pretty savvy with what he says to the media, but he may regret this one.

Yeah that was really stupid. He basically said... "Notre Dame, come get me if you want me"

Even if ND is his dream job, that should have never been said in public...that's like a slap in the face to Florida if you ask me.

And there will certainly be some Gator fans who take it that way.

What's stopping ND from making the change in January?

Pretty dumb public statement at this point considering the Gators are playing for the national championship in less than a month.

The thing is that ND has an EXTREMELY easy schedule next year.

They should easily win 8 or 9 games even with Weis.

Can they get away with firing him for an 8 or 9 win season?

Yes. If they absolutely secure Urban Meyer, i'm FAIRLY certain the fans would be aight with it.

ND might get SOME flak, but for crying out loud, they're due a good coach and i doubt anyone would really blame them for doing what it takes.
It's business. And it's not like Weis is going to be a beggar when he gets fired.

Urban to ND and Brian Kelly to UF. They will be just as good on the field and in recruiting. That is my guess.

I'm thinking that Weiss is done. He got the vote of confidence. Why would Notre Dame wait until next year if they can get Urban Meyer this year after the NC?
