Along with over 80% of the black vote in Alabama the last time he was elected Governor in the 1980's.
Is the past relevant here? You guys always say that it isn't, so maybe you could clear that up for us.

Not really, but you have a constant reminder of the past on your state flag, we don't in Louisiana.

When you hear of arrests of Klan members and folks who harm African Americans in a town or state that is a clear sign that it is being cleaned up.

Then the rate the State of Louisiana is going the state will have eliminated racism in about one million years multiplied by infinity.

The state has never been effective at eliminating racism douche bag.

I don't think you know what the state flag of Alabama looks like, but the St Andrews cross would be a reminder of the past. For that matter, any flag, including the Stars and Stripes, is a reminder of the past.

This is my first post ever, Ten Tex's typical LSU-fan-motivated-to-suggest-something-uniquely-negative about Alabama in this flame/post forced my hand.

I have lived in Louisiana all of my life aside from the 5 years I spent in Alabama. I have no doubt that in terms of white "racism" there is no differece between the people of the two states. Furthermore to suggest that racism exists only in the deep South while excluding Louisiana from the list...you lose all credibility. If anything the educated people in Alabama and Mississippi seem more progressive in their attitudes towards blacks due to the negative history that their states and Universities had during the Civil Rights movement.

There has not been much factual information released about this incident that I have seen, but it is not uncommon these days for "Race" to be inserted into the picture anytime there is an incident between blacks and whites, so you never really know. For the record, I was in the greek system at Bama, and I never once witnessed any distressing incident between black students/athletes/greeks. Your genralization and accusations are directly in contrast to my expirence at the University.

By the way, last year LSU had a black linebacker (Derrick Odom) attack his white student neighboor for making slurs. He attempted to break into the white kid's house to beat him up, trashed the kids parked car, and then punched out the kid's father who came to the house. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't cast stones.

No reminders of the past in Louisiana or at LSU huh Paul? (snicker)

After Paul and TennTex see the link, they will buy up all of these in a hurry I'm sure.

Here's something to think about:

This year, Tri-Delta at LSU accepted two black girls at rush (who have since been initiated). The "rumor on campus" is that many fraternities will no longer take part in socials and activities put on, or involving, Delta Delta Delta.

Most people will know what Fraternities we're talking about.

This thread is stupid and needs to go to off topic where it really belongs. I read the first page and it is a tired and inflamatory discussion that will go no where and belongs elsewhere. It is cluttering up the first page of the rant.

That is all.
