California running back Tre Watson, a senior, will miss the rest of the season because of right leg injury.

got hurt after catching a screen pass from Ross Bowers

"You feel for a guy like that that's put in so much time and effort into the program," Bears coach Justin Wilcox said.

Patrick Laird replaced Watson and rushed for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns on 12 carries.

Watson rushed for 709 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2016.

He ran for 52 yards and had another 32 yards receiving against North Carolina in season opener.

Watson got off to a decent start against Weber State with 31 yards on six carries before he got hurt.

Man. We were preseason #11 at the beginning of last season, and have already fallen all the way to #85. Funny how things change so quickly sometimes.

When you don't play defense this is what happens.

I know we are arse on defense, but there is no way there are 84 college football teams better than us.

Dude...we are #69 in the country in defense and #113 in rushing. We are fricking balls.

If we look at our team as made up of 4 parts, it breaks down like this:

Defense: garbage
Rushing: nuclear waste
Special teams: meh...Gary is struggling.
Passing: fricking phenomenal

That's 1/2 complete shite, 1/4 barely average, and 1/4 unbelievably good.

You really think that 1/4 will carry this team to success?!

Well good thing they allow forward passes in the 21st century

I realize we are really good at passong, but y'all are really downplaying some huge fricking flaws in this team.

We have JFF without the run game and defense he had to help him win.

Ha. I was being sarcastic. I thought it was clear. You're dead on dude. This has all the makings of a 6-6 if we get the breaks and create some turnovers.

ETA: I think just wrapping up some would make a huge difference on defense honestly. I'm sure the YAC for opposing running backs is insane after the first two games.

Yeah I sensed the sarcasm, but responded mostly for the couple other completely serious people.

And I agree on the wrapping up. They're in position, but just getting blown by.

YAC from amazing receivers makes it look way better, especially since it's against two cupcakes.

Agree, it's all about the YAC.

Does UM keep stats on YAC?

I realize YAC has been a big factor, but Shea has also dropped some dimes. He got better from week 1 to week 2 on the long ball and I expect he'll continue to do so.

True, I rewatched the offensive plays from UT martin and Shea threw some great long balls, I hope we do that more often, hwoever, he also had some weird throws (mostly to metcalf that were way short.
