Congrats on the coat Olemiss5931! I know that it is early but what are you thinking about specializing in? Have you done any rotations yet? We ought to do an unofficial "UMC" round up, I wear "dark greens" (AKA "The Enemy of Administration") so maybe able to justify a small bar tab.

Thanks! My first class M1 class starts tomorrow so Ill have a couple years until rotations. Im pretty open for what I want to specialize in, but I know Id like something that involves a pretty good amount of surgery. I shadowed a pulmonologist and hated it. Also shadowed an ENT, and that one was pretty cool. Haha yea Im down for a get together sometime!

Can agree 100% with the surgery route. I love being part of a good OR team (followed closely by the ICUs or ERs in a level 1). If I hadn't needed to take a scholarship I would have gone the "cutters" route.

I just want to be able to have a great family life so that's the only thing that worries me about surgery right now. I'll just have to wait it out a few years and see how things fold out

We definitely need to meet up. I can give you some perspective on that as compared to the horror stories you hear from the Attendings. Life outside of the confines of an academic institution is way different.

Thursday is my only open day... I have hospital orientation Tues and Wed and helping my brother move in his dorm Fri
