Keep it? Why?

Change it? If so, to what?

change it.

I've never seen a group of people celebrate and honor the losers of a major war more than southerners. The nazi flag is perma-banned in Germany. I doubt you'll find any public statues to fricking Adolf Hitler.

Disclaimer: don't even bother with the whole "but it ain't racist" argument with me. I don't give a shite if someone finds it racist or not....waving that flag 150 years later should be considered an embarrassment.

there's a lot more similarities than you think.....but I'm not trying to compare the both. I'm just saying there's no where else that honors a fallen regime like the South does with the Confederacy.

One less thing to blame shite on

ALso, I'm white as frick, so I really can't place how it makes others feel. If over 30% of the population feels oppressed by it then yeah.. Whatever.

This is my problem with most of the people losing their shite about not wanting to change the flag. Just because an individual doesn't feel oppressed by it...doesn't mean it isn't oppressive.

and no one is stopping any individual from waving any flag. It isn't being taken away from you. Just like the people who say Col. Reb is still their mascot....the stars 'n bars can still be your flag. Fly it as much as you damned well please.

Change it... not that it matters. What's next after we change the flag?

Mississippi will never be viewed as "progressive" so it doesn't matter. People will find reasons to shite on us whether it's about racism or obesity.

I just hate to "give in" to this type of shite.

What's next? The Confederate monuments in Oxford and Jackson.

Will that make the nation view us as a more tolerant state after we rid ourselves of the flags and statues?

Our children are fat and illiterate in Mississippi yet we fight over a god damn flag. This is my biggest issue with it all.

Probably, but I couldn't give a shite about those either.

Take a vote. Do what the people want. I'm not going to spend any time at the poll over this though.

This is the peoples' choice, I agree. Recall the people voted by a margin of 64% to keep the flag in 2001.

Every time someone gets their feathers ruffled we have a new vote? Sounds legit.

Take it down but, when does it stop? John Stewart said the reason a lot of African Americans cant get ahead in this country is because they don't feel apart of it "how are they supposed get ahead in life when they walk on streets named after confederate soldiers." My question to John is most Americans black or white cant answer basic American history questions how in the heck are they supposed to know the name of a confederate soldier or General.

I say yes take it down but, be mindful of the past don't forget what happened.

So? What does one have to do with the other? An improvement is an improvement.

I've never met a black person who was alive during the Civil War and those who were around for the Civil Rights Movement are dying off. This is an issue because the media must keep profit margins high, so they create stories and drama. (see Ferguson).

I don't give a flying frick about the flag, but I do give a flying frick about the sheep Americans are becoming.

Wonder if Native Americans want us to change our country's flag? That's a lot more similar to the Nazi Germany example provided above.

I don't give a shite about any of the state's flags. Why do we even have them? Just remove it from law. It wasn't even the official flag until 2001 anyway.
