Well, that didn't last long. Former #OleMiss RB Mark Dodson has transferred from Memphis to Murray State. LINK

Dude had talent...but him refusing to RS when we had no room for him to play was very telling.

He wasn't going to get into the rotation at Memphis either it appears.

He should have been smarter and taken the redshirt, but I can see why he didn't. He was an early enrollee for a reason. I'm sure the coaching staff told him it would help his chances of playing as a true frosh and I bet he didn't want to reshirt and admit he enrolled early for no reason. I liked the kid and the way he played so I hope he has great success at Murray State.

He wants to be the number one guy and not share time. He should have taken our coaches' advice and redshirted. I wish him all the luck in the world though

We didn't dodge a bullet, he just wasn't as talented as we thought he was. We tried to move him to DB

We evidently suck at judging RB talent.

Kailo Moore
Mark Dodson
Havent heard any good news out of Judd
I'train Mathers

Walton is a solid running back and I like him a lot, great receiver out of the backfield (F you bama), but he's not great, just solid.

Time for one of these 4 stars to live up to the hype!

No news on Judd?

From my more posi-Rebal friends, Judd is going to be a steamroller this fall and Wilkins has allegedly gotten it together too. Have any of y'all heard this?

Makes you wonder if the hype is unwarranted?

If you ask fans of most teams during the season....the best player on the team is the backup quarterback. Fans tend to hype the hell out of the backup if the starter isn't balling out.

Granted....I didn't pay as much attention to the spring reports as I do most years...but I rarely remember hearing his name. I want to say I read something saying he's got the potential to break out this year but hell....so do most of the other backups

If we don't average at least 200+ yards per game on the ground then frick winning ten or more

He's been with the program for over a year now and all I hear is "this guy has the potential to be our short yardage back".

Obviously the jury is still out.

I wasn't overly impressed with Wilkins although he'll only be a sophomore. I liked Walton much more last year.

It's hard to tell if our line is that bad or the backs don't hit the holes.

What kills our offensive tempo is one and two yard runs on first down.

We made a habit of getting four or five of those per game last season.

I won't be confident in any of our running backs until at least 5 games into the season with a best case scenario.

I think it's the former. If there were any kind of consistent running lanes, one of the 6 or so RBs on the roster would have had more success. It's probably fair to say that some of problems in the running game have also been based on play calling and scheme.

Play calling, scheme and a QB that wasn't very athletic. The read option works much better when the QB can out run the DE.
