Article is on Scout. The actual response is a really interesting Saturday night read.

Scout Article with link to actual response

Edit**** Merkel doing work. Case law seems solid and is linking in the conspiracy angle. The fat greasy tattoo "journalist" may need to get a good lawyer.

The first 18 pages are the response. The rest are exhibits....but there is more in them than what I have seen been revealed thus far.

The NCAA cleared Tunsil just two days after the fiasco on draft night.

TWO DAYS!

They leaked the NOA right before the signing day. Then issued the NOA while they were interviewing KJ and broke their own by-laws......that is messed up and now you can understand why Bjork said the investigation was over to the CL and Rosebowl knew it wasn't....Merkel is linking it all together for discovery.

Lots of people, including some on this Board, said Bjork was lying to the Reb faithful.

Looks like Bjork was telling the truth.

If nothing else, it adds a very interesting wrinkle to why the school fought so hard to save Freeze. It was ultimately fruitless, but it makes substantially more sense now

While knowing for almost a year of his private life issues...

But ultimately, adultery isn't normally a reason to fire a coach. I think after the past month we started looking for a way out and decided this would be the best way to get out without owing a buy-out

From my understanding, the Athletic Department knew of the rumors, and there were plenty of rumors, but nothing ever turned up when they investigated. The rumors were typically about a mistress(es) and not phone services though. I always took them to be rumors because Freeze was by far the most famous Oxonian, and the town is really bad at hiding gossip. If he'd had a mistress in town, the town, and certainly the AD, would've known.

Granted, if the "pattern" in his phone records was mostly on his university phone, it's hard to believe they wouldn't have looked into his phone records while checking on the rumors, if their investigative efforts are to be taken seriously. The phone call that brought Freeze down could look like a misdial by itself, but it's pathetically WAOM if it wasn't isolated on that phone. I'd hope for Freeze's sake and Ole Miss' that his shenanigans predominantly took place on a personal/burner phone so the school can realistically claim they weren't able to find anything.

I'm of the opinion that Freeze's issues in his personal life couldn't have been kept a secret forever, especially with how many enemies or other detractors he had, so it would've eventually bit us in the arse. In typical Ole Miss fashion though, it happened to come out at one of the worst possible times.

ETA: doesn't the university have to review phones issued to coaches periodically (monthly?) for compliance purposes?

Yep. So either they've known for a year, or lack of institutional control is very likely. Not sure which one is worse honestly

I'm not sure how the NCAA could levy LOIC over a coach's personal issues outside of a Penn State situation, and, even then, the NCAA admitted they didn't go about that scandal the right way. Plus LOIC over sexual transgressions would set a precedent they couldn't ignore in their Baylor investigation. What jurisdiction do they have over infidelity? Calling an escort service isn't a crime in and of itself, even if the implied result of soliciting a prostitute would be a misdemeanor. We'll probably know soon enough who Freeze was calling and to what ends.

If the escorts were for recruiting purposes, even if Freeze didn't use a university phone, we're getting LOIC anyway, and we get nuked back to before the forward pass was invented. If the "pattern" was on his university phone though, this mess is somehow going to get more embarrassing

Makes me think Robertson may know who released the Tunsil video.
If the release of theat video can be tied to MSU or the NCAA in any way,
The fireworks are just beginning.

Yes it seems he is going that route and also that Rosebowl as the conduit of information of LM's RR allegations to KJ and LL.

I seem to remember Hearing on Finebaum, that the NCAA would use
journalists to help with their investigation and thought it sounded strange
then. Going to be interesting if the NCAA is forced to provide evidence
that implicates MSU, Forde, and rosebowl. Hell, throw Sankey in the mix
since his daughter goes to State.

Ross Bjork confiscates 2 coaches phones each month for a thorough review. Even the head coaches. He even takes up personal phones for review by compliance.

Only one call to the escort service was ever found. When they looked further after the call by Nutt's attorney, they allegedly found a sidepiece.
