I was excited about this guy when he transferred in. And I swear I haven't heard his name mentioned since then. What happened to him? Can't pick up the playbook? Or just wasn't as talented as he was thought to be? Just curious.

He can actually cover a TE in pass coverage and come up and stuff a 240 lbs RB at the LOS....thus Wommack will never play him.
Just kidding....he is supposedly is "thinking too much" and not reading/reacting fast enough yet

We need him to start covering, reading and stuffing very soon.

I pray he will so we can move Gates out to his natural position of OLB.

He will be ok it will just take time. He should be a bigger part of the defense every game.

I don't know what ya'll saw but I dvr the game and went back to see who the hell sucked so bad...
He is at the top of the list..
Fast forward to 1:34 and watch the TE run right by him and catch a TD... Dude is lost. Slow. Small... No fricking way he is 6'2. Both he and Gates are listed at 6'2 and Gates is 2 or 3 inches taller than he is.. I'm farrrr from impressed on this one.

Maybe it's the #8, but I'll admit he does look a little bit more like a DB in that clip. I hope you aren't right.

I hope I'm wrong too but Gates is standing a couple feet from him...
We will get a better look at him this weekend. I'm sure we will see a lot of young and new guys getting work.
Will be very interesting to see what Freeze does with Patterson...

Shoring up the defense is our biggest need but this is by far the most interesting story line of the weekend for me personally.
Obviously, the redshirt comes off should anything happen to Chad at any point in the season, but I'm curious to see if they take the redshirt off against Wofford.

Exactly.
I watched it live and the few times he was on the field he single handed lay blew his coverage. Let the TE go right behind him. That touchdown was all on him. I was cussing him as it happened

Yep, # 8 was barely on the field, and when he was it was a God-awful moment.

Much better, was the leading tackler.....but there was no legit pass threat

Looked like he wiffed on a tackle on their touchdown. Also, how is Shawn the Brawn Curtis looking?

Hibbler actually looked to be the most athletic linebacker.
He was able track to the RB on the option. He has the best range of all the linebacker, except maybe Gates.
I think he should get more playing time and see what he can do. Maggeo is not worth wasting our time on at this point.
Hibbler on the other hand has a ton of upside.

So is this the 2016 version of fire Matt Luke?
I'm not sure why you guys thought he would instantly be one of our best defensive players. This is his first season playing in our defense.
Feel free to post who should be replacing him. There's a pretty big reason why we brought him in.

Haha seriously. So because he struggled in his first game with a brand new team and after leading the team in tackles Saturday we shouldn't waste any more time?
Damn some of y'all are some fickle fricks

Guilty. At least with Wommack.

I agree. Geez! Give the guy a little bit of time at least.

I make the same argument with the OL. The fan base just loves to blame someone. This is by far the best OL of the Freeze tenure and by far the youngest. Any idiot looking at this OL could see the talent and potential. Yet every week this fan base has to find someone to blame.
We can't run the ball. Well it's hard to get rushing yards when you only have 14 attempts in game one. How is the OL at fault for that. We rushed for 176 yards I think against Wofford with the backup OL playing a large portion of the game.
Every week the discussion is who do we blame. Lol Some find a way to play blame even in victories. Smh...
