I know of baseball players who have played with slightly torn labrums. Surely an offensive lineman can, right?

RIGHT?

Just be glad it happened early in fall practice instead of the week before the first game.

Let him rest and sit the first couple games and be back for Bama. That would be over a month of heal/rest time

I think he will be alright. They will just give him a nice steroid shot before the games so he wont feel as much pain. I had to do the same thing in baseball my senior year except I only had to get one shot before the season

He needs game reps that's what Taylor is missing the mental part.

I start him for game 1 and let him get reps the first half of game 2

Don't want him starting his season against Bama. No way

I'm pretty sure Tennessee has a MMA cage in their facility so obviously we are just behind the times.

Well mentally I believe he knows the playbook and what he needs to do, but somewhat lacks discipline/dedication off the field. He has to show a lot of dedication for Luke to justify starting him over a fully bought in Senior. Which he has recently.

If he sits out to rest his shoulder the first two games, stays in shape and gets practice reps Bama week, I’m all for him starting, even if it is his first game of the season.

Knowing the playbook isn't his issue. He struggles with reading defenses epically when the defenses change/audible out of the formation he is used to seeing.

Alabama would eat him alive if his first game reps are in Bryant Denny against future NFL defensive line

Alabama would get more of a fill eating Bell alive rather than Rod.. Yes, literally and figuratively.

I passed Bio 160, so I'm pretty sure Rod can play through a torn labrum. That injury doesn't cause shoulder instability or loss of strength just pain. They will be shooting him up before games all season to help with the pain.

You can have loss of strength from that injury. How much depends on how bad,

Haha that class was such a pain. That was my first class at ole miss, and it wrecked a ton of people. That's when 3/4 of students find out that medicine isn't for them

It's definitely a tough class. A bunch of my buddies switched majors after that class

I ended up getting a C in it. Hardest class I took at Ole Miss. Before the first exam they told us nobody had ever made a perfect score on an exam in the class. That's when I went "Oh frick"
