I'm sure a lot of folks are cringing at this thread. It is what it is. The OM Rebels are playing a football game against the #1 team in the country at their stadium this Saturday, and I'm curious what Rebel fans think about it. Anybody making the trip?

This is going to be an interesting game. Interesting is the word I'm going to use. Will the offense rebound? Will our team show up to play, or will they come out flat and accept the L?

A loss is clearly expected, but I was thinking about a few what if scenarios.

What if Shea has a Johnny Football game?

What if the offensive line shows up to play and actually gives Shea protection?

What if Alabama has an offensive meltdown where they are fumbling or Hurts throws a pick six? What if something like that happens to give our defense confidence?

What if Haynes plays like the Haynes we have seen in the past? What if our defensive line gives Bama's offensive line problems?

We need chaos on our side football gods.

They will have had 2 weeks off. A game with some fight would be nice. To see that these players haven't totally given up. Even a competitive game would look good on us.

Alabama will run all over us and wear down the defense. I think our only chance at making the game competitive (or dare I say win) will be if the defense can mitigate some of the damage by forcing a couple of fumbles, or picking off Hurts when they elect to pass. If that happens coupled with our offense absolutely showing out, containing Alabama's defensive front, and putting up mad points... hey you never know.

What ifs man. That's what it's all about. Why we play the game. There is always that irrational enthusiasm leading up to the game.

In our heart of hearts we know this could and will probably be a blood bath.

Bama is the better team by far, but stranger things have happened.

Have to agree with Mason.

On paper and off paper, Alabama is a better team. No questions asked. However, and these are also WHAT IF statements - What if our defense, which showed some signs of life against Cal, comes out and has a good game, forcing a few turnovers? What if Shea has the game of his career and scores a ton of points? What if we are somehow able to find some semblance of a running game?

Lot of what ifs. I am preparing myself for being taken to the slaughter house, but you always have to be a little bit hopeful that things won't go extremely terribly.

I expect Alabamato win by 17 or more, because they just have a complete football team with basically endless depth. But anything can happen, and I hope I'm wrong.
We are coming off a loss and a bye week, so we've definitely had more time to correct and prepare, and our guys will probably treat this as the biggest game of the year. Maybe that helps a little

How elite is their defensive line? Like last year? Did they basically re-load?

Pretty damn good. They had little problem stopping FSU's QB and decimated Vandy's offensive line last week.

This will be the first time in 2 or 3 years I don't plan on watching. My expectations just are not very high. I will be recording for sure in case something happens I feel like I've got to see. If we can get out of there with even a "respectable loss" and very few to no injuries, I will be satisfied. Then maybe Auburn isn't as good as was billed a month ago.

If I have to pick a score Saturday, I see something like 42-17 (if Wunderlich is healthy), but I'm hoping for something more like 42-28.

I'm sure they're a lot better than Cal's D-line, which is bad news bears

Poor Shea is going to get spit roasted in the middle of the field. Sorry.

Nick Saban probably had Longo's offense figured out before getting back to Tuscaloosa last Saturday.

Hopefully our offense will make some big plays and keep it somewhat respectable, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I expect our defense will do ok. They don't scheme you to death.

Hell we could do good offensively if when they pressure Shea he would squirt up the middle like Chad instead of running laterally like a mad man.
