Pretty good hire considering who was available.

We should've done better. We're a middle of the pack SEC program FFS.

Here's to hoping he can get the job done

Ole Miss was "No. 104 in Red Zone TD percentage." That wasn't all on Werner.

I'm glad someone here is not complacent with mediocrity.

Two power programs in our own division above us were/are looking for OC's at the same time.

also we're under a severe NCAA investigation.

...these are things people are forgetting. Anyone expecting a big name hire to come here under those two circumstances is borderline-delusional.

And yes...we are, in fact, a middle of the pack SEC program. That's a decent improvement from where we've been the last 50 years. The only thing that isn't middle of the pack is how much we pay Freeze.

We were always limited to either an up-and-coming OC from a small school or a solid position coach/recruiter from a big school. Anyone else would have come with baggage and, obviously, we can't afford anymore baggage. Damn plane will barely fly with our own baggage in it.

I wasn't on the "fire wommack" train nearly as early as most....but you can't argue against this season. And then finding out he wanted to retire years ago just pissed me the frick off.

I got concerned watching him (Wommack) in a post-game presser after a loss last year and he just didn't seem to really care or have much emotion. That's when I figured he was just "doing his thing" until retirement. Made me realize it was the fierce mentality of guys like Prewitt, Golson, Hilton, Elston, Lewis, Bryant, etc that made the difference. Not sure if that was Tom Allen's doing or if those guys got together one day and said they were tired of being a joke of a FB program, but whatever the catalyst was we need that back. There was a clear difference in that group of guys giving a damn. You could see it in their tackles, and gang-tackles. I remember freshman Mike Hilton driving a Miss St receiver back like 5 yards after tackling him in the dick, throwing fins up basically before the tackle was even finished. We need someone who can fire these guys up.
