If others want to give money to people to pay taxes or whatever else that is fine and they are free to do that, but for some reason it irks me when I see gofundmes for stuff like this. Why should others give money to you because you don't have a good business and don't pay your taxes? I'm sure there is more to more to the story but that is the part of the story that they told us

Either way, paying their taxes for them is likely just a band aid on the situation. As others have said mediocre pizza in a bad location that a large % of your should be target market (students) don't know about is not a good business model

Yeah it seems kind of ridiculous. You were already giving them money by eating / drinking there.

I've been eating there for 25 years. Best sandwiches in town and some of the best I've ever eaten anywhere. Their old location was a lot better, and I never understood why they moved to where they are today. I still remember going there with my grandparents every time I came to town. They had a massive collection of Ole Miss yearbooks that I used to flip through while waiting what seemed like an eternity for our sandwiches to be made. It was an Oxford institution back in the day, but fell by the wayside when they moved.

That said, I'll miss it and it'll remain in my memories, but I'm not donating to pay for other people's mistakes.

Apparently a bad accountant... oh and they are searching for financial advice on their Facebook page so that should tell ya something. I'm pretty sure a couple years ago they had to sell their building and lease it from the buyer to avoid a shutdown.

But that's part of the mystique of the place. They have no idea how to do anything but make those damn sandwiches and I love it. I don't care that they have to go fund me to pay taxes.

I've always loved Pizza Den. I was in there at least a couple of times a month during my time in Oxford. I always heard horror stories, including one from my brother, about how they're aresholes but I never had any problems. Plus, that stromboli and the roast beef sammich are on point.

ETA: The pizza is pretty sub par, though.

I always thought Dino's was good. Not sure of this place and why they need my money.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. it really pisses me off when people don't pay their sales taxes. Pizza den essentially stole 52k from its customers. They deserve to be shut down.

Their staff is really rude. I've heard coworkers' stories, and coupled with mine, their service is awful. Their stromboli and sandwiches are awesome, but they don't deserve to get bailed out by the public for bad business decisions. It isn't like Ajax is going out of business or something.

Agreed. Deli News was the shite.

Food wise, both are/were awesome, but service-wise, the cool hippy dude at Deli News was 100x better than the jerks at Pizza Den

Yeah, super nice guy. Always asked how my language skills were going and wanted to know about me. I really liked him, and it's a tragedy his restaurant didn't last. Best sandwiches bar none in town.
