First off, thank you for taking time out of your day to visit this site. It has been a long journey to get our family to this point, but we love each one of you who have stuck it out with us.

Robert Dean Whiteaker, "Pizza Bob", opened the Pizza Den in 1966. He moved to Oxford with his wife Barbara Whiteaker and his five children, Julie, Jeff, Judy, Bobby, and Cathy. The Pizza Den (originally Pizza King) was one of the first restaurants to open in Oxford. Through out the years each one of his children, and grandchildren, have had part in the restaurant. Not only have generations of Whiteakers been apart of growing up around the Pizza Den, but also generations of Alumni.

After the murder of Pizza Bob in 1998, his children took on the responsibility of the restaurant, some of them dedicating their entire life to continue the legacy.

Through trials and tribulations we have come to a finanial standstill. Through circumstances we currently owe for taxes. All money donated will be used in the effort to save the Pizza Den. ANYTHING that you can spare would be GREATLY appreciated. We love all of our customers and look at you like family. You have been with us through the good times, and hope you will stay with us through the bad times.

Thank you again.

Pizza Den Family

I used to eat there at least once a week when I was in school until 2014. I still eat there after day games before going out. I personally watched one of the owners kick out bama fans after they kicked our arse one year under Nutt. Their Stromboli is the best sandwich in oxford and it's not close.

Maybe if they weren't known for being assholes

Eta: that said, I love the submarine, and it's an old Oxford institution that I'd hate to see go away

One of the worst locations for a pizza joint in town. Students barely know it exists.

Well, it's a pizza joint known for sandwiches. I wish they'd move though. They belong on the University side of town.

That's sad. The Stromboli, mufaletta, and other sandwiches are all great. It's on Heritage now. shite location.

This. Love the sandwiches. One of the worst pizzas I've ever had though.

I weirdly went to this place a lot. Pizza Bob was known for carrying all of the revenue from the restaurant in cash on his person, which ultimately led to a robbery and his murder. No disrespect to Pizza Bob but that doesn't sound like a guy who pays taxes.

The best roast beef sandwich I've ever eaten. It takes 45+ minutes to make. I lived off Anchorage when I was there in 2005-2007 and ate there all the time.

I hope they get their shite worked out. That's a lot of money.

I agree. They've been having problems for years. I might be willing to help if they were changing management and making a move to a better location.
