Did they not disclose why they are requesting for a larger budget?

So we will be adding almost 10k to our stadium capacity? What's our new capacity total going to be?

That's how many seats will be in the NEZ. We will lose 6k by tearing down the bleachers an add 10k new seats resulting in a net increase of 4k

It just means that it's a normal project.

A capacity of 64,038 will place us in the following rankings:
Largest stadium in Mississippi
36th largest college football stadium
60th largest football stadium (considering all football stadiums, college and professional)

Sounds pretty good to me.

Is there any plans for expanding after the current one? Wouldn't hurt to get to 70k.

I'm not sure how they'd do it unless they tore down the press box and added an upper deck with the press box built into the upper deck, kind of like this old picture of Bryant-Denny Stadium:

Percent of capacity per game in the Hugh Freeze era
2012, Central Arkansas - 83%
2012, UTEP - 88%
2012, Texas - 102%
2012, Texas A&M - 91%
2012, Auburn - 94%
2012, Vanderbilt - 99%
2012, Mississippi State - 101%
2013, Central Missouri State - 100%
2013, Texas A&M - 101%
2013, LSU - 101%
2013, Idaho - 96%
2013, Arkansas - 101%
2013, Troy - 87%
2013, Missouri - 101%
2014, Louisiana-Lafayette - 101%
2014, Memphis - 101%
2014, Alabama - 102%
2014, Tennessee - 103%
2014, Auburn - 103%
2014, Presbyterian - 99%
2014, Mississippi State - 102%

We're obviously putting asses in the seats

With not building the final few rows of the North endzone it leaves room to be able to match the top part of the south endzone after it's renovated this year assuming they decided to tear down those 2 buildings that are under the North endzone

North endzone when finished:

South endzone after this year:

A) I doubt they'll tear down the very nice, recently built Fed Ex athletic academic support center

B) I don't really know how many more spectators evening out the rows in the south endzone would add?

Anyone know what the standing room capacity of VHS will be once complete? The Closer to 70k the sexier.

I'd just like the next project to be revolved around making the entire exterior appear as one building and not three or four separate renovations.

That should be at the top of the agenda IMO. Yay for expansion, but it would be nice for the Pavilion and VHS to match to an extent.

I wonder if we will build VHS up to The Pavilion one day. Kinda like Vandy has with their baseball stadium.

I hope not. There are better options for VHS IMO. Bjork mentioned an upper deck for the west side, but even then I don't think it would right on top of the Pavilion like Vandy.
