@MikeMillerHT
As others have tossed out there, I'm hearing defensive coordinator Tom Allen is positioned to be Kevin Wilson's immediate replacement.

@BruceFeldmanCFB
I would expect DC Tom Allen to be named the interim HC at #Indiana.

Thank God.

Force Freeze to make a real hire, hopefully.

But do we really trust that he'll do that?

Freeze congratulated him on twitter. So that's a done deal.

Why do people hate Allen on here? He has been a solid DC since he left us and our defense has spiraled downward. The scheme isn't the issue. We had one of the best defenses in the country with the very same scheme he runs. He left. That's why the shite hit the fan.

Where are all of the lb's he recruited from '12-'14?

So we should keep Wommack by this reasoning.

Correlation does not imply causation. See point no. 1.

they are scared it will be more of the same from this year and even when he was our LB coach we still missed out on linebackers like we do now which further scares certain fans of more of the same

So because he is weak in one area, we are just going to write him off? Give me a great Xs and Os coach that can gameplan and make adjustments instead of a great recruiter that can't develop players or make adjustments when they need to.

Pretty obvious where all of the energy and adjustments were coming from on the 2014 team. Especially after seeing our defense the last two years.

This completely baffles me. I would take Allen in a second. He made huge improvements at both schools where he was DC. Yet people are scorning him to hire a position coach like McGriff because he do some crootin'. I mean frick. We need a coordinator who can scheme and coach not more fricking recruiters.

We don't have any recruiters fwiw. That's kind of the big issue with wommack and co... mcgriff would be terrible though. The worst I've heard people call in for is Tyrone Nix

I would have been okay with Allen bc I think he's a good coach but I really want someone who brings more of a culture change to the defense and Tom is just more of the same that we've had.

Look for the past few years we've chosen scheme over recruiting and look where it has gotten us! Schematically, Wommack was fine. The problem was players and youth on the back end. It's as simple as that. We have to have a recruiter or it won't matter how good we are coached because our players won't be talented enough to make the plays.

Barry Switzer said it best when he said that in football Jimmy's and Joe's are more important than X's and O's.

Minus making adjustments and picking on the other team's weaknesses.

Scheme > Talent every day of the week. Talent doesn't help you if players aren't in the right position to make plays. The best defenses always have superior scheme. Talent is secondary.

You think Cody Prewitt made plays like he did because he was super talented?

Cody was a killer. I feel like our current team is missing that. Have too many players worried about their swag and not enough that want to go out and take someone's head off.

Posters on here don't hate Allen. I'd say people are ver respectful of him.

The issue is a lot of fans want to see Freeze step outside his comfort zone with this hire. Instead of hiring one of his boys, go after someone who can bring a different perspective to a program that needs it

Cody was most definitely super talented. At least from the biased opinion of someone who was on the receiving end of several tackles by him and had him pick one off over my head, the dude seemed like a force of nature at the highschool level. I still get excited about the hit he layed on that Vandy reciever.
