I'm pretty confident that Tom Allen will be DC.

He has been with Freeze at Lambuth, Arkansas State, and Ole Miss. Currently at Indiana as DC and last year was at South Florida.

I'm afraid you're probably right. That would be a pretty Hugh Freeze hire.

Here's the thing about Tom Allen.

He is the defensive coordinator for Indiana, and his son Thomas, who I know personally, is committed to play for Indiana. Tom may not want to leave Indiana knowing that his son will be playing under him.

We'll see. Was talking with some of my friends about this (we are all from Oxford) and I don't think Tom would leave.

I hope not.

We need to go for someone elite with a more proven track record. We also need to find someone who can recruit.

Tom Allen is neither.

Considering his son is a LB that is 6'3 & 235 lbs. I would offer him because he is bigger than any on our roster and can't be any slower than Polk.

Good. I think he will be a solid hire. I don't think it's a coincidence our defense started a downward spiral after he left.

Allen's son is a 2 Star recruit with other offers from USM and Rutgers. Indiana's current recruiting class is ranked 55th nationally according to 247, not very good. But a full three spots ahead of us.

Tom Allen is a dang good DC and coach overall. He's got my vote.

Landmass and HRJ

Are y'all forgetting that the reason we have basically no good linebackers is because Allen could barely recruit them.

Also, it's more of the same system.

Nothing is as depressing as Wommack, but Allen is part of the reason why we put wet paper towels on the field this season instead of linebackers. Freeze has a chance to actually correct the teams most glaring problem In a potentially big way, to hire Allen would be a let down.

He has been gone for 2 seasons. It's not on him.

The last thing we need is a daddy balling coach.. Let him keep his 2 star son in Indiana..

We need some salty arse players coming in not more candy asses..

Two seasons mean our junior and senior lb's or lack there of is on him. Would be a terrible hire albeit a likely move by Freeze. Open up the checkbook and let the new DC make all of his position hires.

This is part of the issue though. For your specific situation, a 3 star linebacker is better than another 5 star WR you don't need. Recruiting is as much about balance and filling needs as it is about signing talent. Take him and his son, it's not like you have to blow a scholarship on him, you guys could use 3 LB's in this class just to begin filling the void.
