Am I a traitor for feeling this way?

Often when I'm out in public wearing OM gear a stranger will pass by with a "Hotty toddy"

I am always caught off guard and give some kind of awkward response every time, like "back at ya buddy", or "yeah, go rebs", and when I respond back with another "Hotty toddy" it feels forced and more cringeworthy than even the other responses.

Anyone feel the same way, or is this just me?

I much prefer a "Go Rebs" to a "Hotty Toddy."

Growing up in Houston I never got got to say it since there were no other Ole Miss fans. So it doesn't really bother me

Here's a serious problem.

An Ole Miss fan that also likes the Atlanta Braves; Wear a script A hat and you bring them out of the woodworks.

Not really. I've said it as a greeting before but in some circumstances it's awkward. The one time it was really cool was when I was in Florence, Italy. I was walking around with my Ole Miss pullover on and I heard someone yell "Hotty Toddy!" I turned around and it was a guy and his girlfriend. They had just graduated law school and were traveling around Europe to celebrate.

I hate responding. It basically freezes me and I say the dumbest shite back, like "thank you" or something else that makes no sense. I need to just have a standard "go rebs" to fire back with, but I stumble every time

I Like it. If I see someone around atl with an OM shirt on I say hotty toddy. And usually get responded with one as well.

Better than "oh, ole miss, ha"

Personally, I like "Hotty Toddy" as a greeting. That, "Roll Tide," and unfortunately, "War Eagle," are all unique and colorful ways to identify and connect with others that runs deeper than other schools.

Being at Alabama for undergrad, and subsequently OM for grad school, I've always enjoyed going out of town and swapping RT's or HT's when wearing either schools apparel. It does catch you off guard most of the time, but every once in a while there's a pretty damn good looking girl on the other end of it.

I loved it. I'd like to go back someday. Italy, especially the Vatican City, was awesome.

I actually have thought about his before as well.

If it's a guy I usually just say "Rebs" back and awkwardly nod my head… Never know if it's some cheese dick that's gonna try to talk your ear off for the next 20 minutes about anything and everything OM and Oxford… If it's a good looking girl I obviously smile really big , say "Go Rebs" and try to initiate conversation about anything and everything OM and Oxford…

It always catching me off guard when I am out of town and someone says "hotty toddy". I spend a few milliseconds thinking how the frick do they know I am a rebel fan? Then I finally realize I am wearing Ole Miss gear, lol. Booze really rots your brains.

I just awkwardly smile and wave when people say Hail State.

Sort of like this...

I find "Hotty Toddy" to be not awkward at all for some reason.

I'm a Saints fan and I find "Who Dat" to be super awkward tho.

To each his own.
