My thing is this should have been done after our secondary was terrible during the Vanderbilt game.....it was obvious that assignments and reads were missed

Prior to Ole Miss, Matt Luke coached Duke's OLine and was the run game coordinator for four seasons (from 2008-11).

During the four seasons when Luke was there, Duke averaged under 3 yards per carry and averaged 23 sacks allowed per year.

Since he left, Duke has averaged 4.35 yards per carry and averages 16 sacks allowed per year.

Ole Miss averaged 21 sacks allowed per season during the 3 years prior to Luke. We have been averaging 30 since Luke has been here.

I think the numbers speak for themselves. There are Oline coaches out there that produce much better numbers than Luke.

Numbers don't lie....time for him to either take an administrative role in the Athletic Dept or find greener pastures.

Call him for Freeze

He has roots in TN, MS and GA. Georgia Southern's offensive line coach for two years. Last year they finished 2nd in the FBS in rushing. They are #1 right now.

Wow that speaks volumes. We were better at protecting the quarterback during Houston Nutt's last two seasons than we have been with a top 10 team (and one of the best linemen in America). Luke clearly blows donkey dangus.

Atkins and Hiller look like better options

Well you can say the numbers are skewed since we didn't pass as much in the Nutt era.

But if you compare it to the succesfull years when we passed just as much (2002-2004), it shows how bad we are now at it.

2012-14:
- 1,392 pass attempts
- 92 sacks allowed
- 1,555 rush attempts
- 265 Opponents' TFL

2002-04
- 1,285 pass attempts
- 59 sacks allowed (33 less)
- 1,343 rush attempts
- 160 Opponents' TFL (105 less!)

John Latina was our offesive coordinator back then. He is now the run coordinator/Offensive line coach at Duke that turned things around after Luke left there.

I like the idea of Hiller since he has experience coaching OL in a spread system. Atkins at a glance seems to have most his experience in a wishbone/veer scheme.
