Exactly. I was using that as an example of how we can pay a coach as much or more than a coach at a successful P5 program gets, but I'm not positive we'd pay someone $4m+ right out of the gate unless their track record is sterling and they can put together an elite staff

Charlie Strong failed big time at Texas. No way he would succeed at Ole Miss.

I'm willing to bet most of the failures there were not on him.

When Saban, Belichick, and Jesus all turned down Texas, the big money people there were never going to be happy

Les Miles is "extremely interested" in the Ole Miss job per reports

I hope this happens lol. Would be epic to see LSU fans melt when we beat them.

Honest question. Do you think there is a legit better coach/recruiter/name we could get?

I'm not sure how any fan at OM could want Les Miles

Les probably won't matter unless he somehow got hired on as a consultant and then took over if Matt Luke somehow got taken out by the NCAA storm, which sounds ridiculous typing it out. Luke is our coach until further notice, and Les turns 64 in November. I'm not sure what all would have to happen for him still to be a real name come November-December, but I'd think the NCAA ruling and the season has to happen before any coaching rumors can have weight

I will be disappointed if this happens. I prefer Strong over Miles.

They are interested in Strong because of his ties and they want a black coach to squash all the racist stuff people use against us.

I like Blake Anderson at Arkansas State.

Les Miles would be Houston Nutt 2.0

Take a deep breath, we aren't hiring Les Miles. Of course he's interested in the job. I'm interested in the job too but that doesn't mean that there is mutual interest.

I think if we sit back and be patient then everyone will be pleasantly surprised by who we hire. I really believe that we are going to hire a bigger guy than any of us think. I think that a lot of coaches have seen the potential of this job.

Why wouldn't you want Les? He'd be great at recruiting for the state we are in. And we'd be shitting on LSU twice as much when we beat them.

Strong maybe, but he sucked at rebuilding Texas. And Norvel, would not bring in the recruits like the names of Les Miles, or Charlie Strong.

I'm starting to warm up to Les Miles.

He has the NFL connections (imagine Beckham and Fournette getting behind their coach).

He has the motivation. Saban and O and Bert going down.

I would want him to keep most of the staff. I think Hugh has got the coaching staff in a good position.

I don't want Les because he is 64 years old. I don't think he has the energy needed for the job any longer.

To be fair, Saban is 65.

I'm not saying Les is even close to Houston Nutt but, isn't it kind of a similar situation? He never really got it done with his players and Freeze beat him with 1/10th the talent. I kinda like the Troy guy he runs a system very close to freeze and is very young which i think helps with recruiting.

I don't care if we win. It would just be nice to not be an embarrassment for once. Even when we win, we're garbage.
