Neal McCready ?@NealMcCready
Issac Gross out for the season, per UM release. He will have surgery on his neck. He will redshirt and return for a fifth year at Ole Miss.

Did he play Saturday? Was this a lingering issue or a new injury?

Its unfortunate to hear that and hope he has a great recovery but this may be a Blessing in disguise... we will need a veteran on the DL

I really think the injury was more probable due to his weight loss....you just can't play DT at 230 lbs without something getting hurt eventually. As well, I believe this isn't the first time he has had a neck injury.... I think he had a similar injury in 2013

He was held out due to a "stinger" all through camp last year.

In light of this injury....I would like to see Fadol slide inside to Gross' spot in the pass rush package next to Robert with Marquis and CJ on the ends

No offense but that doesn't make sense to put both CJ and Haynes on the edges for run support. Put rob on one end and Fado on the other. Speaks and Jones in the middle. Put CJ at mlb and stand Haynes up too.

We have a freshman, Ross Donelly, that Freeze is pretty high on. This is what he had to say at his press conference yesterday:

"Ross Donelly played very well. He did some good things and played some quality snaps also. We planned all along to play him, I just kept forgetting to let you know. I say all along, we started planning that week and felt that he was smart. Just with the grind on those defensive linemen that you have, you are fortunate to rest one of those guys that you have, whether it is Rob (Nkemdiche) or Issac (Gross) or Woodrow (Hamilton), you’re going to need a sixth guy. And with Herbert (Moore) going down, he kind of filled that slot.”

I was talking about a pass rush package not run support. Something for an obvious passing down or 3rd and long situation.....

I hate it for Gross. Hoping for a quick and successful recovery

If there were any position we could afford an injury, however, it's DL

Not emergency situation yet or anything, but with two key cogs of the DL already out for the season. Our front 4 on defense is starting to look real thin now before really diving into the schedule.

I'm surprised you were able to find enough time to stop jerking it to this news to comment.
