I have to say, the urban planning and long term strategy doesn't seem too good

Yeah if we were to go ahead and match the South Endzone in the North we wouldn't have trouble fill it up. Just a lot of excitement around the program right now. Having an almost sellout for some of these small games last season proved that. But I also get their side of the viewpoint too.

I'm guessing the demolition going on in between the Grove and stadium is for the WoC? That section really is an odd section when the team walks through. Just scattered fans watching people walk through a parking lot...

Baseball facility upgrades LINK
quote:

Ole Miss Athletics has announced that Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field, the home of Ole Miss Baseball, will undergo renovations and stadium upgrades that will enhance the student-athlete experience as well as the gameday atmosphere for Rebel fans.

The $13 million project, part of the $200 million Forward Together campaign, will include a new baseball performance center, a field level club, additional box seating, a rooftop plaza down the first base line and an expansion/realignment of the left field terrace.

The entire project is expected to be completely finished by the start of the 2018 season.

“Ole Miss Athletics is always looking out for the welfare of our student-athletes, and the upgrading of facilities is one way to improve their entire collegiate experience,” said Ole Miss Director of Athletics Ross Bjork. “As one of our most popular and successful sports at Ole Miss, the baseball program brings so much excitement to our fans. It is only fitting that the highlight of this project is a new performance center for the baseball team.”

“To have an all-inclusive performance center at the stadium is a major game changer for our guys, and it is exciting to be able to give our fans more upgraded seating options for our games,” said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. “This is another great day for our program, and it would not be possible without the support of our past letterwinners, the Ole Miss Athletics administration and, of course, Rebel Nation.”

The performance center will feature an all-new clubhouse, training room, weight room and players’ lounge to provide baseball student-athletes everything they need in one location. The new performance center will also house a team meeting room, indoor hitting cages and the indoor pitching tunnel. The field level club and rooftop plaza will give fans unique views on gamedays, while the additional box seating will increase the stadium’s overall capacity.

Ole Miss is currently in the process of selecting an architect for the project. Details of the project will be announced as plans develop with the next update expected to be released March 24. That evening, the Rebels host South Carolina to kick off a three-game Southeastern Conference series.

Not sure how much seating will be up there. Kinda just sounded like a place to hang out.

I'm interested to see the plans. Sounds like it's going to be nice.

Damn, I'm going to miss being in Oxford this spring.

Gotcha. So is there going to be green space on either side?

Here are the main renderings of the proposed final for the green space in front of the athletic complex. One of them is from the initial C-L report that we were expanding in 2014. The other is from our sports site re: Forward Together (this image is massive, so I didn't post them on the board). I feel like I saw a more current rendering or concept of the final product in Athletics last month, but I'm having trouble finding it online.

This is the plan they are going with.

Looks like there's some structure going up on the live cam.
